my new job I have to work 1 in 3 Saturdays....afraid to look ahead to the 13th.

Man what a fish! I really didn't find the posts here all that negative either, just guys questioning why someone would call it a record. No biggie. Even the guys questioning it wondered if it was a live release record or a line class record etc. No negativity at all in my opinion (although I've only read through once...maybe I need to go back and see who was being a real jerk).

My link ...see if this worked

some beauties there, reminds of my golf-course-bassin days when my mom wintered in Florida

personally, when the water gets real cold I like to jig big plastics in deep water. Trolling/banging bottom is just too frustrating for me...I always second guess whether my lure is clean so I'm forever checking it. I jig with a big bait where the hooks are on top so no fouling issues. Plus, you can band bottom continually, stirring up a bit of a ruckus.

fantastic report...but fishing with the top up? C'mon! I was on Balsam about 2 weeks ago, whitecaps crashing the bow..me and my partner were literally coated with a cm or 2 of ice (as were all surfaces of the boat). We didn't catch as many as you guys, but I dare say our day might have been just as memorable! (having said that if I had a cover I would have used it )

...arrogance...they think they can succeed where the last guy didn't. -

...or what is a reasonable amount for an owner to lose. I think this is the real debate, not all these guys make money. -
I could only watch half before getting too jealous!

couldn't agree more. If someone offered me a couple of million to do something I enjoy I would jump at the opportunity. Who cares about the terms of the deal? You're getting millions of dollars! These guys make more in a year than most of us make in a lifetime. The owners took the risk of making a MAJOR investment. They should be allowed to make as much as they can, as long as they treat their employees fairly. I'd say millions is pretty fair. -
good point. In this weather it is only the diehards whether you be on boat or shore. I never ended up going, I've had the chills for the last 24 hours so spent the day hanging out at home

they are wannabe barracudas! Can you blame them? Mr barracuda is tough as nails and pretty cool looking with his black spots

water was 37 degrees....once we got out of the ice covered bay!

you can have it Brian! If I'm not the only boat on Balsam tomorrow I'll eat my hat. Never river fished, but rumour has it there is often company. As far as Coboconk, never tried it. I try to stick to the west shore for travel reasons, but maybe Coboconk isn't that much further

Wow! I have been fishing 40 years and have NEVER seen a perch like that. Congrats to your son and the proud papa. What the heck is the Ontario record for those things?

I went to Balsam on Monday, and we managed one 40'ish inch musky jigging in 30 fow. That day, the free launch over by the canal to Mitchell was pretty icy. We broke through close to an inch of ice for around 50 feet to reach open water. Tuesday was warm, but today has been below zero all day. Anyone have a suggestion for a launch onto Balsam on the west side of the lake? I would assume the Prov. Park has locked gates. I called Balsam Lake trailer park but got no answer. It also appears to be on the river so not sure if it would be any better. Any thoughts?

Welcome back. I do vaguely rememeber you. You're a jerk, aren't you? haha just kidding. I don't remember what I had for breakfast so I sure don't remember what you are like. Anywho, we also are relocating to Kitchener next week so perhaps our paths will cross. Let me know if you find any muskies in the grand river! I will need to find some new musky grounds out that way.

...I repeat..Piltdown, Nebraska, Lucy etc...this is your evidence. Although I do agree with your statement "that we will agree to disagree" so this is as good a time as any to end it. Good time for me to go get the boat ready for tomorrow!

why would anyone worth any salt put any faith in carbon dating? 10 year old rocks from Mt St Helens came back as 300,000 years old!!!! What is that, a margin of error of a few billion percent?? This is your science. The same science that put Lucy, Nebraska Man, Piltdown Man etc into textbooks as fact. Google it if you don't believe it

Last night I forgot to flush my toilet. If I left that turd there for a million years or so, could that turn into a population of millions of plants, animals and people? An evolutionist MUST say yes to this question. In fact, my turd has an infinitely greater probability of evolving than their own theories can explain. Why? There is an explanation of how it got there (my Mexican food did not agree with me and I was too lazy to flush) and it already has living matter! Where did your primordial goo come from and what caused it to live? From this day forward NO evolutionist should ever flush a toilet, as they could very well be flushing the common ancestor of a future Nobel prize winner. You may find my notion of a Creator ridiculous, but clearly your theories are just a bit silly! Its just a difference of where you place your faith.

shoot I now see that we stopped talking about bigfoots a LONG time ago...sorry I didn't have time to read the entire post earlier, I was away at church giving thanks for everything I have!

how embarrassing...I watched an episode last night. How was I to know that samsquatches like peanut butter? I also learned they like to travel along hydro lines. hahahahaha morons. How do they know about the peanut butter and the power lines and the type of habitat a bigfoot prefers without ever finding one? I wonder if these clowns REALLY believe this or just know they can make a living at pretending
