  1. Hey big cliff. Sent you a PM. Thanks!
  2. I pulled the fuel line going to the carbs and started it up. I noticed no fuel coming out at idle but once I reved it, fuel pours out. Any ideas on this cause? I'm assuming this is my problem. Reving it will stay on but at does it will die. Need a new fuel pump?
  3. I'm trying to winterize the outboard but it keeps conking out on me. Starting isn't an issue. Starts fine then dies after 10 secs. If I rev it it will stay but as soon as a throttle down she quits. Fuel pump works, cleaned the carbs and added a new impeller. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Thanks guys. I'll go with the Cherry
  5. I recently purchased my first boat. Older 14 aluminum. Got it home on Thanksgiving weekend and noticed that the transom is pretty old and will need replacing. It's something I'm willing to tackle myself. I have a big cherry board sitting in the garage. Is this something I can use instead of marine grade Plywood? What do you guys use to seal the Wood? I've read of epoxy, Thompson water sale, spar varnish or just plain paint. What would be the best Option?
  6. Thanks again fellas. I'll have to take a look at the trailer again and see if I can move forward and/or extend the bunks. If not, looks like I'm shopping for a new trailer. So from this view, I'm assuming this trailer would fit a 12 footer perfectly?
  7. Thanks for the advice. I'm picking it up in a few weeks. Previous owner said he would fix the trailer lights. From memory I believe there is room to move things up so I'll have to look into that. Lots to learn!
  8. I just purchased my first boat. Older 14 aluminum, fairly wide and moderately deep. The front hood is aluminum and round, as seen in the picture. Can this be removed? I'd like to replace it with a flat piece of wood with carpet so I can accommodate a trolling motor. Any thoughts? Also where can I get marine carpet around TO?
  9. I ended up picking this up at princess Auto. Sharing this in case others need as well. https://www.princess...ot-/A-p8228041e
  10. Hey Dave. Thanks. Just ordered on amazon.
  11. Thanks guys. Appreciate all the helpful tips. Good call on the fuse as well.
  12. Yes you guys are right. I need 4/0 not 4 gauge. I'm completely new to this. Looks like I have some more researching to do.
  13. Anyone know where I can get some 4 gauge wire? I just need some for my 2000w inverter. Thought ct or princess Auto would have but thickest I could find was 10. Thanks.
  14. Was thinking that myself. there is a fish and wildlife club just up the road. thinking of popping in. Thanks.
  15. I just recently purchase a small piece of property on L'amable lake just south of Bancroft - Sort of an impulse buy. I'm looking online for any fishing info on this lake and I'm not coming up with much. Has anyone heard and fished this lake before? Its a medium sized lake and it says it has lakers and smallies. The Bancroft area has a ton of smaller to medium sized lakes and rivers. if anyone is willing to provide any info on the surrounding water sheds I would appreciate the information. Im not picky on species. I just like to catch something and photo and release, unless its perch! Got some exploring to do this summer. Thanks in advance.
  16. i got mine second hand for $100. Totally lucked out. they are going on close to 10 years and i still use them. The previous owner must have had them for a couple of years at least. Apparently he was sponsored by Simms and replaced them frequently. over time there were some pin hole leaks which i fixed myself. Great waders. Also give my two thumbs up on the g4 jacket as well the guide boots.
  17. Hi guys. Thanks for everyone that replied. I'm in Scarborough/Pickering. If anyone close is willing to donate or sell I'd be very appreciative. Otherwise I will try the stores mentioned above Thanks dave, Iron, Dan and dara for the offers but a bit too far for me. Thanks again! Dave
  18. So I need to get around to finishing putting my motor on my kayak. I made a mount out of oak but I saw some pics of aluminum. Any ideas where I can get a 1/8 thick piece about 14" x 6"? I tried the big box stores, no luck
  19. chinooks and steelhead make their way up there. not in any great numbers but they do come up. my friend sent me a pic of a bunch of black chinneys back in september.
  20. So I recent ripped apart my trolling motor and built a small control box so it sits beside me on the kayak. This box will control the speed. There are two wires that are a bit thicker gauge. I can't seem to find the right gauge at the big box stores. Anyone know where I can get wires in the Scarborough/Pickering area? I temporarily used thinner gauge wires and it works but it's not reaching max speed so im guessing the thinner gauge is restricting max output. Thanks.
  21. While ice fishing on Simcoe I had a nice school of perch in my area so decided to drop down a garlic bait cloud to keep them around. I didn't get a single bite after and I couldn't even see if they were still around because my sonar was clouded from the bubbles. I had to relocate about 20-30 feet away. Further I got from the bait cloud the more fish there were. But on another occasion I hit Pike consistanly while ice fishing using the same product. I won't be using it again for perch but maybe will give it one more shot with Pike.
  22. I have the same problem - a couple of holes in the bottom of my Clam Kenai. I believe the tub is made out of a polyethelyne. i saw a video on youtube where the guy repaired a large hole in his kayak using the plastic from a javex bottle, which is also made of polyetheylene. If you look at the bottom of plastic containers they should have the PE 2 symbol. I'm considering going this route on the smaller hole. if it works out ok, i'll try on the larger hole. try looking it up on youtube.
  23. Hey Chris, my son was sleeping through the night at 3 months. then at 5 he would wake every single hour and it would take my wife at least an hour to rock him back to sleep. With an upcoming family try coming up in a few months, we decided to invest in the services of a sleep doula and it worked. but basically your paying someone hundreds of dollars to someone that is going to to give you comfort that you are going to do the ferber method on your child. she had several techniques on how to do it and it did seem to help. simon only cried for maybe 5-10 minutes before falling back asleep. by about a week, he's was sleeping through the night again. If you want some of the methods that our doula gave us, shoot me a PM and save yourself the money for useful things like a nice new ice auger or fish finder.
  24. i have a jackson big tuna. its a big heavy beast but super stable. its great to have to option to have two (i've even had my wife and two kids) or solo position. it has two elevated seating postions for both riders, integrated live well and bunch of other features. check out the jackson site. it's a PITA to load off and on solo but i devised a kayak load assist made out of 2x4s so its manageable. in the process of installing a trolling motor with foot pedal control. Cant wait to try that out. I've heard good things about the Nucanoe and i just saw that Sail now carries them for $1000. it also has two seater option and motor mount ready. i would consider that if i was in the market for one.
