So with all this spare time at home, figured I'd do something useful and change up the prop seals. Gonna take a stab it at myself. Any good online sites that would sell these and the O rings? Thanks.

Any of you guys leave your boat in the water over the summer? what do you do from preventing it from sinking from rain water? my brother in law tried that for one weekend and found the boat just inches from sinking. Looking for some possible solutions because I hate trailering the boat back and back to the launch. i know bilge is an option, but worried about it failing or the battery dying. Thanks.

I'll be replacing the lines as well now that I know what it was. So what makes a good quality line?

Issue resolved. I tried moving the gas tank up to about half the height of the motor and it was spilling gas out the fuel pump. Let it running for about 30 seconds and it continued. Hooked everything back up and it was running for a good 5 mins without issues. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks guys. I'll try the hose and look at the connection. I'll let you know if it worked.

I always have left over minnows after each ice session so i just salt them and dry them out and freeze. like OF said, cut bait also works (sucker) Here is another question, are perch eyes legal to use as bait in Ontario? I saw some people using them during the ice season but i thought using perch as bait was illegal.

Hey OF, Yes older motor. I was thinking that as well. might just buy a new hose assembly and see if thats the culprit. i also have the motor on a stand and the tank on the ground. im wondering if there is not enough power to suck up the gas from that level. i'll try raising the tank about mid motor height and see if that works.

Hey guys. I recently picked up a 9.9 Johnson to work on over the winter as a project. Was sitting for 2 years but didn't have any issues starting it up. New gas and it fired up. But it's dying after 2 mins so. I pulled out the line from the pump to the carb and no fuel was coming out when running so it must be the fuel pump. Just bought a new one instead of rebuild. This is still not working. I took out the gas lines to see if any were clogged but they weren't. Any ideas? When I pump the primer bulb I don't see any gas leaking. Could it be the gas line from the tank? Any feedback would be appreciated bc I'm stumped. Thanks

brush cutting blade on a weed trimmer
super dave replied to super dave's topic in General Discussion
hey guys. No it will be an annual thing. I have a property up north that needs a lot of work done to it. most of it is forested. Looking at the stihl brush cutters, the engines are 25cc. So unless i'm missing something, that should be enough power. I wont be taking down 2 inch trees. mainly stuff up to 1in max. Most will be under that in diameter. -
Has anyone done this before? I have a gas straight shaft 25cc trimmer with a 3/8 inch shaft as well as a 28cc mac. i have a ton of small brush and shrubs i need to take down and the string is just not cutting it. i know people have put on brush blades like the renegade but the problem is the inside bore of these blades are 20mm or 25.4mm. Anyone know where i can get a bushing reducer that goes from 20 or 25.4 mm to 3/8 inch? or a 5/8 to a 3/8. looks like a table saw or circle saw blade is 5/8 so that might work. Hacking away with a shearer or a machette would take days so any recommendations for this solution would be great. I'll have to invest in a pair of chainsaw chaps and steel toed boots if i go through with this. Thanks.

Took my son on the big tuna yak a few weeks back for some perch fun. It was slightly choppy so we decided to stay close to shore to play it safe, around the 8 feet mark. this depth worked out well. Lots of little dinks caught but we got a few delicious keepers for some perch tacos for dinner. I dont usually keep fish but simcoe perch are hard to resist!

Im not a sled person but my brother in law is having some issues. Carb was cleaned and new gas. It starts sometimes but wont stay running. He was saying something about a des switch. I know this isnt a lot of info but any thoughts? Could it be des kill switch? I know there are some sled guys here so thought i would throw it out there. Thanks

another option is to use the tip section and make some ice rods. I have one that I made which is my go to rod. have turned top sections of flioat rods into some nice ultra light rods as well. if you want to be cheap, you can cut just above the old handle and stick the top section in it to create an ice rod or smaller UL rod.

I have a few sticks that broke and I use the donor rod piece fit snug with about 2 inches on each side - so 4 inches in total. I use the flexible rod wrap epoxy and regular rod wrap thread. let it sit over night and it looks good. I have one rod that I use as my main rod and it has lasted over 10 years. I also have an 13 foot G loomis IMX that I fixed this way and I have had no issues. I find this method only works for beefy sections of the rod like the butt or up to the mid section of the rod. I tried this repair on a tip section and it snapped below the repair section the next day.

Hey Guys. I managed to fix the problem and the motor is running smooth now. Took apart the carbs again fully and gave it a good clean with a carb cleaner. I missed the jet the first time I tried it. I also noticed that the float was crooked and not parallel with the base. after this last clean she started and didn't shut down on idle. not sure if it was the float adjustment or the jet that I missed or both. wanted to give a big thanks to all those that offered advice and a special thanks to big cliff who offered to take a closer look at my motor. that was very nice offer of you. finally got it running and now I have to fog it for the winter : (

Nice mild fall day with no wind. Was a great day to be out on the water. Didn't get great numbers but sometimes that doesn't matter.
