  1. I'm considering getting an older boat. The motor has one issue. Prop bearing needs to be replaced. Its an older 65 merc. what am I'm looking at to get this fixed? Anyone? Thanks!
  2. also check out the wilderness systems ride 13.5 and he old town predator. I'm looking for a predator myself.
  3. i did this with my last batch. they still effective for perch? or is live better?
  4. i just used a jig head with a small live minnow. I was in about 12 feet. started at around 8-10.
  5. hey bill. did that. we moved about 4 times spending about 10-20 minutes at each spot. I guess it was just a bad day? or I don't even have skills to fool a perch.
  6. Well I tried lake Simcoe last week with the help of some members advice. It was a fun time even though the fishing was pretty slow. 2 perch in the dying minutes saved the day from a skunking. But I think Im hooked. I was thinking of hitting Scugog this weekend since I’ll be in Lindsay visiting the inlaws. I found a township of scugog for parking spots but none for the east side. Does anyone know if there is access on the east side of the lake? Any tips would be appreciated. I’ll be taking my nephews again so size doesn’t really matter. Thanks in advance.
  7. i ended up at virginia beach mainly because it was the closest to my house. I was a tough day, only 2 perch and it didn't seem like anyone else was catching. But a great experience non the less. Thanks again for the help everyone.
  8. i heard them last night at 4am as well. thought it was someone trying to break in.
  9. Hey Guys. I think I might give ice fishing for perch on simcoe a go. I've never been and want to take my two nephews out for a couple of hours. I just don't know where to park. Looking at google maps, looks like a lot of private property. I'm in pickering so the south east end is where I'll probably go. Not looking for hotspots, but can someone let me know where I can park in the virginia beach, pefferlaw, or jackson's point area and not pi$$ anyone off? If you got tips, I welcome those as well. Doesn't worms work for perch in the winter? They def. do in the summer. Thanks a lot in advance.
  10. Does anyone know what the water level is at mountsberg? I know they drain it in the fall. Wondering if that happened yet.
  11. sorry. i was thinking of the paris to brantford area. Rich, do you know of any take out points? I'll probably put in below the dam in paris.
  12. I got a day with my nephew tomorrow and was thinking of taking him fishing at a local reservoir. we have done this a few times but thinking I might try something new like fishing the grand from a kayak. I've never gone here before. Can someone tell me if there is a good place to launch from and take out? i'll probably just call a cab to get back to put in. any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Thanks everyone. The mono trick worked like a charm.
  14. I bought a pfluegher president reel as a few members here said they were great reels for the price. I had problems with the drag slipping on the first one, sent it back for another and now this one is doing the same. What I mean by slipping is when u pull the line, there is no clicking sound and no matter how tight u adjust the drag, its the same loose tension. Anyone else have this problem and know a fix?
  15. I’ll be vacationing in the atlantic provinces early august, hopping from place to place, mostly national parks. so far, we have booked fundy national park and Cavendish. I’m researching some fishing opportunities as I type but if anyone has any stories to share, I would love to hear them. Seeing as I’ll have my two kids with me, I don’t think I can do anything too complicated but if someone knows a small river or small lake with brookies I would appreciate the direction or any other fishing opportunity. Also, has anyone done a boat charter where they take you out in groups and you fish for cod? I remember seeing that on a fishing show once and thought it might be a good way to take my 5 year old out for a few hours. Thanks in advance.
  16. Thanks dave. It worked. I tried another Google diagram before but must have been a diff 7 pin? Not sure.
  17. I have the flat 7 pin plug. I tried connecting by colour code and it didn't work. Would anyone know which how I should connect each wire? The new wire I'm assuming is for the brake controller. Is that the middle? Thanks in advance for replies. I would love to get this resolved by today.
  18. Not Kong ago I put up a post on installing a 7 pin wiring system to tow a travel trailer and installing a brake controller. It WS a lot more complicated than I thought so I paid a mechanic to install. Upon inspection, I noticed he used my existing wires from my 4 pin and installed only one more wire and used the wrong plug. He still used a 7 pin plug but round not flat for the pins. I know nothing about the wiring. Can only 5 wires be used to have everything functional? Is, brake lights, turn signal, brake controller.... or did I get hosed!?
  19. thanks everyone for the replies. BC, yes i pretty much realized that after the first post. Youtube makes it look so simple! already calling around to get quotes. two people have said the labout is about 2-3 hours and the brake controller ranges from 100-200. So i'm looking at around $500 total. does that sound about right?
  20. I have a 2009 toyota highlander and its rated for 5000lb towing. the trailer i'm looking at is 2500lbs and that would be about the max in weight I would tow. the truck has a tow package installed already with a 4 pin connector.
  21. I'm considering getting a travel RV trailer. My truck currently has a 4 plug wiring system installed but I need a 7 wiring system. Does anyone know how this could be done? Is it simple enough that I could do it? Also need to install a electric tow braking system. Any comments on that? Is a Rev dealer the only place I can get this done? Thank you in advance!!!
