  1. Nice report. Thanks for sharing.
  2. I live in Ottawa and I have been fishing Quebec almost exclusively since 1966. Although you are certainly entitled to your opinion, I couldn't disagree with your post more.
  3. Thanks for sharing Simon. Nice to see three guys enjoying our natural resources.
  4. Thanks Reelpro. I'll put your recommendations to work next time I come across this situation.
  5. I've been spraying my vehicles with Krown since 2000. I've been quite satisfied with results. I concur with Vance - do your due diligence to pick a good shop.
  6. While I did catch a couple of walleye during the week with stomachs full of minnows, 95% of the walleye caught had empty stomachs. And no, the walleye caught were not long and skinny.
  7. The fish we did catch came from pods of walleye we were marking. Consequently, yes, the marks were walleye.
  8. Thanks for the responses. No live minnows allowed in Quebec. And I believe Quebec will not allow dead minnows starting 2017. I've just never gone the minnow route.
  9. Our group of guys fished a north western Quebec lake for walleye 7-14 Sep this year. While I could mark walleyes consistently on the bottom in 25 to 30 FOW, it was difficult to entice bites (whether bottom bouncing a worm harness with a crawler, jigging with a crawler or dragging a crankbait). When I cleaned those walleye we did catch, their stomachs were empty. This held true for the complete week. While skies were mainly overcast, we only had rain on three days (no thunderstorms). Surface water temperature declined from 22 to 18 degrees C during the week. I've rarely experienced a complete week of walleye with empty stomachs. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  10. I'm looking for any relatively current information about Lac Doda and Lac Father in Quebec Zone 17. Is there any outfitter operating on either of these two lakes? At one time, there was an outfitter called Pourvoirie GRB 10 located on Lac Doda. I believe that outfitter has ceased operation. Thanks in advance.
  11. I concur with porkpie - the 1000 size would be more appropriate for walleye.
  12. Great report Chris. Really enjoyed the pics and videos of the specks. Thanks.
  13. Great looking morning topped off with some nice walleye. Thanks for sharing Simon.
  14. Nice report and pics Matt. Nice round trip excursion. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Thanks for sharing Simon. It's easy for me to relate - spent the weekend up in Tremblant to celebrate Mother's Day with our two grandsons 7 and 9.
  16. Great narrative along with great pics. Thanks so much for sharing a bit of Nunavut.
  17. A fishing buddy purchased a Humminbird Helix 5 Sonar + GPS last year. For a little less than $400, I think it's a great unit. My own sonar is an older Lowrance HDS7 that I purchased in 2009. It's still working well.
  18. Good morning Simon, Thanks for sharing your video. Bravo for getting out on such a cold morning.
  19. How about using your birth certificate? Mine is plasticized.
  20. Season's Greetings Lew. We're spending Christmas day with our daughter, her husband and our two wonderful grandsons (8 1/2 and 7). Christmas morning should be a blast watching those two tear through Christmas gifts. By the way, Bunk, great picture!
  21. I'm a member of a group of fishing enthusiasts who have been fishing together for over 50 years. Although we get together during the year for special occasions, we always get together a week before Christmas at the local pizza and beer pub (for us that's the Prescott). This year we had 15 guys in attendance. And as usual, we all updated each other on our ailments (we're all seniors between 72 and 81 years of age). Two of our guys underwent open heart surgery during 2015. Fortunately, we are all still walking on the right side of the grass. And some of us still very much enjoy wetting our lines for walleye in August and September each year. I'm grateful to be alive and to be a member of this group. Seasons Greetings everyone.
  22. Thanks again for sharing Simon. While I'm envious of your easy access to ice fishing and fresh walleye, as a senior, I'm not a fan of cold weather any more. Weather forecast for Ottawa area tomorrow is +16. I might wash my truck in the lane way tomorrow just to set a new date record.
  23. Some great shots in your video Simon. Thanks very much for sharing.
