Had a discussion tonight as to whether adding a jackplate to my buddy's 2001 Lund Pike 16.. He just put on a 2006 115hp Optimax and was thinking of adding a jackplate for better performance. he's currently running a 4 blade SST 21 pitch and want more out of it. Can this be done ? I've never seen a jackplate on an aluminum boat and will it perform better ? I personally don't think it will but then again, we don't know of many friends that have done this... Any advice and tips appreciated.. Tiz

Seems like everyone will have their preference.. I have 2 Pflueger Presidents and they are great too.. These are back-ups now... Guessing the best reels would be the one that fits you and your budget and the one that make you feel good about using it.. Tiz

Was there today and I too was looking at the BPS pro qualifier suits.. Not much of a selection unless you're wearing sizes XL and up. Lot's on 2XL & 3XL. Spoke with a lady there and she indicated that they will be getting more in for the sale.. Sale prices are the lowest I've seen them since this store has opened.. You'll be saving over $100.00 on the complete suit.

Navionics + came with one of the Humminbirds that I just picked up at the show... I haven't got it yet as my 859 is on back order.. It looks great and when talking to the Humminbird rep, he said it was the best card for Ontario.. I also have the Navionics Gold, Good deal from the USA, just got here in the mail.. Once I get the plus, I will update my maps and charts and let you know... Tiz

Elite 7 HDI Gold is $769.00 + tax at BPS... Radio World had it there for $820.00 no tax.. Spoke with a Lowrance rep and a Humminbird rep as I was originally looking for the Elite 7 HDI Gold and asked if it compared to the Humminbird 859 DI ? Which had a better/cleaner DI and better processor ? I had asked the Humminbird rep and he said I should be talking to the Lowrance rep.. Funny and actually surprised he said that the BIRD was a better unit... Quicker processor and was a full HD unit... The Lowrance wasn't HD... So I picked up the 899ci SI/DI for my console and the 859ci HD XD for my bow... Along with the Navionics plus card that was part of the deal... All no tax. Tiz

Was also there today... Waited 30 mins in line after parking to get in.. Picked up my new Humminbirds today.. No Tax and Radio World and Lebarons and one came with the Navionics plus... Did my homework on prices before I left... Look at BPS, SAIL, Lebarons, Radio World, Ebay and BBC & WC forums and I think I did better than I hoped for with all new 2014 units..Can't wait for the installs and updating my own lakes on this card.... Was there earlier today to return an item that I had purchased 3 weeks ago.. They gave me some slack on their 10 day refund/exchange policy, but I was good with just a credit note or offering to buy some tackle (which I don't really need) for the refund.. Anyway, they ended up giving me a full refund.. I was surprised and shocked... Thank You.. While there 2 weeks ago, we were looking at the electronics and my buddy commented on the Lowrance Elite 7 being $1.00 less that Bass Pro $768.00... Well today while waiting to see if they were going to give me a refund, I walked over to the same unit and it was marked with a big orange tag "SPECIAL" $728.00... Are they serious ?? Guess they are getting ready for their no tax event... I sure won't be there.. Tiz

How do we run both cards at the same time from one unit... For example.. Lowrance Elite 7 only has room for 1 micro SD card ?? Or do I have to insert the correct card for where I'm fishing ?? Tiz

Looking at the Navionics gold card now and was wondering what lakes are on it ?? Can't find any details or lists of the lakes... Just want to be sure this is the right card before spending all that cash... They are non-returnable... Anyone have any info on these ?? Which lakes ? Georgian Bay ? Thanks, Tiz

Hey all, In the process of redoing my entire boat carpeting and have it all out, lids cleaned and all ready to put the new stuff on.. Now, went to my local marine shop and the price per yard I thought was very expensive... 85.00/yard.. 16oz carpeting too... Is there anywhere else I can go to get some quality marine carpet ?? Hey all.. Just got my new graphs in and since the boat is in the garage and it's fairly warm, I'm installing them now before all the new carpeting goes in... So I have the new Elite 7 Gold for the console... The DI transducer will be hung off the transom, but where ?? Do I install it to the transom itself ? (Green metal flake area) or do I put it lower where the intakes for the livewells are and the drain plug (black area) ?? ..... My previous transducer was installed as a thru hull, but with this unit, I won't get a clear image of the DI or the sonar.. Thanks in advance.... Tiz

Just doing some cleaning of the basement and found this... I got this back in 2001 and never used it... Still new in the box...lol Can't imagine using this for my GPS now, especially with my eyes as I'm getting older.. Did anyone have one like this or similar ?? Do you still use is or have a use for it ?? Tiz

Ya think it's a downgrade ? How ? As for adding a chip, the Elite 7 Gold pkg come with the navionics gold chip...The HDS 7 touch doesn't... I'm kinda looking at the down imaging and side scan that I don't have which impresses me... Either the elite or the touch.... If I do this, I want it right the first time and no more changes for some time.... ya right !! Mike - I'm so listening to your words of "it if it ain't broke... Don't fix it".. Tiz

Hi there all, here is my question or a couple of them.. I now currently have the Lowrance LCX-28c HD on the console and the Lowrance X102c on the bow ... These units came with the boat I bought and work very well.. I went looking for the navionics chip and wanted the gold because it had Kawartha Lakes and Georgian Bay.. It's $200.00 or more... Wanted to change out the transducer as the previous owner mounted it in the hull.. Used a transom mount as a thru hull... $129.00 for the ducer.. So do I spend the extra coin on the chip and transducer, or just sell them and go with the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI or better ? I'm more leaning towards selling as I did the teaser and went to Bass Pro and looked at the new unit... Very nice, but is it worth revamping, rewiring the boat... ?? Does anyone have one of these units ?? Good/Bad ??? So If I sell, what's a fair price for the units ? I want to give someone a good deal, but I also don't want to give them away?
