  1. Nice smallies Steve!
  2. Thanks Steve I appreciate the Kudo's on my baits, I'm very proud of the big fish they have been taking for tournament and recreational anglers alike,, I took the boys out today, really nice day-while we only hit 1 big fish, we caught good numbers which is great for keeping the kids attention. I think my pics are too big hence the long upload time-I really enjoy viewing members pics, Brians tourney coverage was really cool also-hope to be able to post some pics soon. Mark
  3. Drop-shotting isn't always the best way to fish Johnny but when they are on it, it's not boring at all, I hit a weed clump in 25 fow on Sat and could barely get the bait to the bottom, before I would get bit, in that deep clear water it's definetly the deal. not just limited to bass, on season 6 of Extreme Angler , we do some cool drop-shotting for other species, . Mark
  4. Thanks Doug-I tried upload a couple of times and it took forever-I have some nice pics of fishing with my little boys I'd like to post-PS, I am going out today also,
  5. Didn't take pics, cause I was alone, and the largies were caught drop-shotting slammers and grand slammers, went out today for a couple of hours, Dave Chong and steve Spagnolo were nice enough to pick-me up from the ramp, and while we caught a lot of small smallies, we also caught a couple of dukers, hope the weather co-operates for tommorrow-Brian I need a bit of help posting pics. i'm not the greatest with computers.could you give me a run-through?
  6. Well what do you get after 5 beatiful days?-thats right the weekend, was going to take the boys for smallies instead went solo cause of the weather, decided to fish largies instead of smallies during the heavy downpour, I landed about 12 largemouth between 21/2 & 4+ lbs. and finished with a nice pike about 10 lbs. even in tough conditions Simcoe is an amazing fishery.
  7. Thanks Brian, I think I'm suffering withdrawl! hav'nt fished in almost 2 weeks-had to shake the pneumonia! working in this weather is just torture! I just drove to the launch in Innisfil and Simcoe looked great! ll rods are rigged -I feel myself getting the shakes, you may just see us out there on Sun. also Brian the forecast looks awseome!
  8. I will be out on Simcoe this Sat with my 2 little boys Trevor-8 and Bradley -6 -can't wait ! I'll be in the Interstate Battery wrapped boat, make sure to say hi, good luck this weekend and be safe. Mark
  9. Nice fish Greg! Simcoe is amazing, hope people remember to release the biggies for the future, yes I remember that 7+ on day 3 ! it put me into 5th! LOL-see ya on the 27th. Mark
  10. Nice smallies Brian, Iv'e been grounded with pneumonia! can't wait to get out there next week. Mark
  11. Strike-King makes a good durable spinnerbait, white& white/ chartreuse are my favs.
  12. Thank-You Brian and Johnny-that fall challenge certainly was a challenge! one day cold and very windy , to the second day changing every ten minutes, like always someone figuires it out, a big congrats to Greg and George, for putting two solid bags together! keep plugging away Brian, your'e getting there, are you fishing the BPS Open?
  13. Nice smallies! I hav'nt fished Niagara in a while, but I think I should get out there soon.
  14. Sure why not Brian, last time we chatted on the water in Muskoka it brought you luck as I recall.
  15. I really don't think it's fair to call all bassboat guys unfreindly, I have had several occurances where weekend anglers move right in and pretty much anchor 10 feet in front of me cause I've landed a fish, yet I don;t generalize . what has to be understood, is that in a tourney, a lot of $$$ has been invested , and it can be a very stressful hobby, so guys who have put $300.00 in entries, and a couple hundred in gas may not really be interested in a freindly afternoon chat. however after the event or during practice, most guys will gladly help you out or answer questions, the concentration levels in a tournament anglers day, have to be high to be successful. I think we get a bit of a bad rap on this board-I personally am freindly with other anglers, and am quite happy to help out whether fellow competitors or recreational anglers. Come out and talk to us at fishing shows and you may be pleasantly surprised at how freindly and helpful we may be. we are no different than you-we love to fish. Mark
  16. Evster, one way to practice a low-splash entry is to place a dish under a chair, and try to place your jig gently into the dish while getting low enough to clear the chair. I'm not the fliping guy that JP is but thats how I get ready for the season.
  17. Thank-you for the kind words Brian, for me it's what it's all about, having fun! in the end it's all about fishing, the tourney part is never an easy go , keeping a positive mindset is the key, at Couch we had 12lbs at 1:30 -half an hour later we were at 18.40 lbs. things change quick, . Nice to see you at the events Brian and glad you had a fun season! see you at the fall challenge! Mark
  18. That is the one downfall of the dropshot, linetwist, it's still a small price to pay for such an aweesome rig.
  19. Nice Smallies guy's Simcoe is an awesome fishery, as you get out there and do better and better, more than likely so will you desire to test yourself, this is what got me started, you go out and catch 30 bass, after a while is like great but can I do it with pressure and time restriction, I would like to see you guys try it, give me a shout if you would like some advice or help. Mark
  20. Ya now I remember that stupid jug, well things looked up after that, I just got back from Simcoe spent about 3 hrs, and caught some more jug-sized smallies, what a blast! and yes Al we should get out soon, Simcoe smallies are eating like crazy, our last 3 outings we caught and released over 60 fish many over 5 lbs. fishing Sturgeon tommorrow in the Rick Amesbury, I'll call you later this week Al. Mark
  21. Hey Brian that must have been Sat , when we met up-me and my 8 yr. old Trevor changed spots and caught some real footballs on the drop -shot.
  22. Good job Brian, Sparrow can be a tough lake, great to fish with your son, can't wait for my 2 little guys to get a bit bigger, but they are well on their way, watching them on Sun. on Simcoe, was a blast good luck on the next one! are you fishing Muskoka?
  23. I have used St.Croix exclusively the last 2 years, they make a rod for just about every application, great warranty, personally I have nothing but good thins to say about them, I know St. Croix will serve you well. Mark
  24. Thanks very much, yes this how i would fish these smallies, while they swim away, I lead them with a long cast with a smoke slammer, usually they will bite, have your throw back rod ready, sudden movements and fumbling will usually spook them, they can be tough, but man its worth it when you hook those brutes! hope this helps, Mark.
