  1. Welcome. Pull up a chair by the fire and join in the conversation. Lots of good folk here and we are happy to have you.
  2. I'm ok with last nights performance, I know that's odd to say after a 6-2 loss but after a great game in Anaheim and then playing the sharks the night after I did not expect much. It'll be good to see how they play against LA and then use that guide to see how they stack up against the other top teams in the league. What I'm concerned about is the leafs consistency to give up leads in the third period. I am worried that we may be set for another heartbreak in the playoffs if this trend continues.
  3. This weather = Moar ice fishing!!!! (and more winternet)

  4. This thread is awesome! Lock please admin?
  5. I like games like tonight because I don't expect much, so if the leafs come out swinging its already a win.
  6. Good size pressure crack on Simcoe. Now city tv thinks we should stay off the ice....... We still have almost 2 feet.

I think citytv's warning is good. It may just keep some of the citiots off the ice before they get into trouble....NOT!

I think it is more of the local idiots that need rescuing!

  7. That's an excellent point I always forget about. Phaneuf is a number 2 defenseman, Carl Gunnerson is not.
  8. If he clocks between 20-25 minutes a game he tends to have a pretty solid game. Of course he's not Doughty, Keith or Weber, but there are few of those. He's still probably top 30 defense in the league. The worst part is Toronto loves chewing up and spitting out defensemen. Remember Matheau Schnider? Same thing happened.
  9. And with the old format it SHOULD be: Still Pitt vs Detroit and Boston vs TB But then it should be Montreal vs the rangers and Leafs vs philly. Ugh what a mess.
  10. So, I'm still not 100% on this but the conference champ plays the second wildcard spot, the other division winner plays the first wildcard spot. 2 and 3 from each division play. Then I think, if the 1 seed in both divisions win they play the winner of 2 vs 3 in their own division, BUT if the wildcard wins then the team with the highest points plays them. What a headache. And what a nightmare if you are in the Anaheim, San Jose, LA division. I do not think this has the best teams playing in the conference final. I don't know why they can't just keep it simple.
  11. Something about 'quack quack quack' The entire game the commentators were talking about how important it is now because the leafs are 3 points up on Philly. I just realized it would never matter thanks to these new squirelly ranking systems and playoff format. Ps- If y'all don't know what the new playoff format is now, you're going to be real angry in a few months.
  12. I've heard people call Grouse 'Partridge" before. As long as people don't use it to keep more then their limit I don't mind............. hmmmm...... think I can keep 4 yellow pike on Nippising?
  13. Pay me $20 an hour and I'll stock 1 000 000 walleye fry into Lake Nippissing myself...... somehow.
  14. Well, its here now. Lets spark an interesting conversation. I argue with my co-workers all the time over this and they hate me for it. If you call a fish anything but its scientific latin name you can call it anything you want because they are just nicknames. Technically the only correct nickname for pickerel/walleye is Sander vitreus. Now, is anyone going to call it Sander vitreus? Probably not. So I say, call it yellow skin glassy eyed fish for all I care. As an aside I was looking at visiting a friend in the UK and fishing over there. Dang does Zander ever look like walleye.
  15. I'd rather go off of Scott and Crossman then Wikipidia where almost anyone can fiddle around with the info. Just sayin'. .... how do people even find these old threads?
  16. almost 2 feet of ice makes Jer a lazy lazy ice fisherman.

Now you have to make an adapter for us to use! The rod thing was my fault, so I may get another.

Thanks Pete and Chris. So stoaked for that catfish trip in the spring.

  19. At my parents cottage it is only about 15 feet deep at the deepest and packed with Milfoil thick enough to stand on. The depth the Big O runs is perfect to keep the lure right in the strike zone. Beginning of the year too, when the milfoil is still growing, it skims right over the top without getting hung up.
  20. I've heard (old wives tales probably) that you can catch gar with women's panty hose. I have a buddy too who loves to tell me how eh accidentally hooked a laker through the dorsal. Not strange bait but I had never heard of that before.
  21. Highly against the rapala r-type. Had 2 of the smallest size for my ice fishing rods and both slipped the catch for when you reel and the bail turns over. Tried to fix it but the part actually removed some of the plastic making it impossible to repair. I'd like to say it was a fluke but it happened to two of them. Both ice fishing.
  22. This is kinda a funny story but when I was a kid and a fish or rock or heavy pile of weeds would break my line and I'd loose my crayfish coloured Big O I would cry because it meant I had to use some orher terrible lure until I could buy a new one.
  23. The rebel crayfish and the cotton Cordell Big-O have been my staples for years.
