  1. I'm not going to hijack Simon and Ricks thread so I'll start another one. I had been looking forward to this all winter. As much as I love ice fishing, my first sign of spring is catching some monster cats with Pete on Trout opener. This year I was exceptionally lucky because both my girlfriend and grandfather were able to come. Earlier this week my girlfriend had asked what time we were waking up to go fishing and followed it up by 'please say we can sleep in until 9.' When I told her we had to be there at 7:30 she wasn't too pleased. So needless to say I was shocked when the alarm went off at 5:30 and she was already awake........ who is this person and what have you done with Nikki? Some breakfast and we were on our way. A nice drive and a few stories later and we meet up with Pete at the dock. Can I just say, I love this guy in a totally hetero, big brother kinda way. Boat is all ready to go, everything is all prepared, all we needed was to throw in our gear and we were on our way. The first 2 hours started off a little slow. We agreed that Nikki would have the right reeling rod and my grandfather and I would each take a leftie one. Needless to say the cold morning did not stop Nikki from getting us started. Look at the size of it! Its bigger then her! I think, if I remember correctly, she had boated 4 before my grandfather and I even had one. (watch out guys. This girl can fish). As the weather began to warm up the water temps got better and the cats decided to get a little friskier. Here is my grandfather with a nice one. I managed to land some nice cats as well. I always look tired in these ones. But really, it was Nikki putting on a clinic once again. After meeting up with Simon and Rick, some lunch and a bit of a bathroom break, we were back on the water again. In the afternoon, the sun decided to duck behind the clouds and didn't want to come out to play anymore. The water cooled down just a little bit but it was enough to make the cats lethargic. Didn't stop Nikki though. She nabbed a few more. As the day grew longer we all began to get a little cold and a little sleepy. It was time to head back home. Final count: Nikki: 7 Grandfather: 4 Me: 3. Once again, thank you so much to Pete for showing us an amazing time. I always have so much fun out on the water with him and the fishing was top notch as always.
  2. It's funny too, my goals have changed since friends and girlfriends have gotten into fishing. I want to see DynamicBear get a Muskie I want to see my girlfriend (soon to be posting under username 'laughing my bass off') get a Muskie. I'd love to see a sturgeon caught. Oh and I want to put my sister on some big bass.
  3. It was great to meet you Rick. I'll post some pics when I get the chance. Busy week moving in with Nikki, job interviews and installing the docks at the cottage.
  4. It was great to see you guys out there. I'll post pics soon and Nikki will have a profile on here shortly (we can't decide on a user name for her)
  5. Great report Nick. I really enjoyed it. These are the moments Alex will remember for the rest of his life. He's lucky to have such an amazing father.
  6. Wow. Great game in Chi vs Nash. I'm taking the Blackhawks and the Ducks in the West final.
  7. It looks cool but man there is sooooo much that could go wrong. I was a little scared for the guy just watching that.
  8. This from the guy who has a leafs picture in his profile, yet calls them the 'Laffs'
  9. The cats are calling. They don't go 'meow' they go 'glub glub glub'

Thanks. Between Pete and my girlfriend Nikki how could we lose? (That being said, she caught all the fish)

  10. Pft. Lucas, everyone knows true Caldar trophy winners claim 'micro fractures' to try and get the best player on the other team suspended. That is true clutch. :p:p
  11. Oh yeah! I want a gar too. And any fish on the fly.
  12. When someone else does it, they are classless goons. When its one of our boys its self defense. As Brian Burke used to say, I would rather build for the future then let Montreal beat the pants off of us in the first round.
  13. Carp. I'm pretty easy. I wanted a whitefish too but I buggered that one up.
  14. The Atlanta curse continues. Since it's expansion Atlanta/Winnipeg has yet to win a playoff game. With this series, Anaheim steps out of 'Rodney Dangerfield status' and will start getting the respect it is due.
  15. If Toronto pulls off this deal and has the 6th overall as well I have no problem with taking Hanafin 4th. Then I go for Marner or another C in the 6th spot. This, of course, is all hypothetical but it allows for a lot more selection with 2 of the first 10 picks.
  16. No no I'm not saying 'Strome and Marner! Start the playoff route' but in terms of changing culture, having two young big centres is a great start. Neither is Crosby or Gretzky or McDavid, but I would like a Towes or Tavares or even a Jamie Benn or James Neil. These are just pieces. But it's a start.
  17. Hit the deck! This one is going to get real ugly real fast. :jerry:
  18. This is when things get scary. In the NHL if a guy takes a head hit you can argue that it was in the heat of the game. Savard is a prime example, it was terrible what happened to him but I doubt (hope) that intent to injure was not there. What happens when you blatantly throw at a guys head and it ends his career or his life? Look at the first time Baltimore threw the ball behind Jose. The Catcher was able to catch the ball. Either that Catcher has ninja reflexes or the intent is obvious.
  19. http://www.letsgoleafs.com/2015/04/22/trade-rumour-phil-kessel-for-a-top-10-pick/ Rumours of Kessel for NJ's first round pick. I do this deal in a heartbeat. The thought of Strome and Marner down the middle for the leafs has me salivating. Thoughts?
  20. Man, if that isn't completely blind optimism then I don't know what is. In the playoffs there is only one number that matters. Canadians : 3 wins. Ottawa : 0
  21. The MEEGZ 'goby colour probably represents a ling well. Maybe larger smoke coloured tubes as well.
  22. Yeah, sorry guys. I can't speak for the homeowners but if I had property on a lake people trampled through, left garbage all over my property, kept their limit and then left, I wouldn't like people fishing 'my lake' either. It may not be the most popular mentality but with the condition I have seen some boat launches and Conservation areas left in I can understand why people would be cautious.
  23. There are only 5 left because the MNR were never handing out tickets to people at the locks who were fishing white rhyno out of season.
