  1. Whoops. Confused my June with July. Honestly, bouncing a worm off the bottom of Quinte is the best way to spend a day for me. Never got a walleye larger then a sardine but we have caught Crappie, Bass, Drum, Eels, etc etc. I think our record was 12 different species in one day?
  2. I know walleye are the fish of choice but I don't know why everyone only targets them. Off my buddies dock we fish for bass and love it. If the girlfriends are with us, they suntan and we throw out a line for them for Sheephead or Carp. Great way to spend a day.
  3. http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/melting-concerns-man-breaks-through-ice-while-trying-to-rescue-dog-1.3298376 Getting nervous now. Might have to pull out my trump card and make sure B walks in front of me when I head out on the weekend.
  4. Thanks bud. You know me, I don't mind making the drive on my own if its safe. Plus I can't wait to show my mom and grandfather some of the nice healthy perch that come out of that lake.
  5. Its not the best thing in the world by any means but I like www.whatifsports.com to compare teams from then and now. (With the simulator a buddy of mine and I determined the Leafs would beat the Canadians in the 93 finals if they had made it.)
  6. Oh man. It looks like this year is out to get me. Simcoe is sounding less and less safe. Looking into Lake X. Thinking thats not safe either. Looking into Lake Y. Maybe with all the warmpth I can actually hike in and stay the night. ....... maybe I'll just stay home, cook the missus dinner and score brownie points for spring.
  7. Thanks everyone. Haven't had a single opportunity to go after Mr. Whitie or Mr. Lake Trout this winter. If I don't do it by ice out, I'll have to wait until next January.
  8. I haven't watched a ton of games (no cable) but on the sports radio shows 90% of the talk is Marner, Mathews, Anderson and occasionally Nylander. This is the first I heard of Kadri's goal scoring prowess today. They mention his D quite a bit but I had zero idea.
  9. Agreed. I want a top D man for this team, but this core is playing so well. I don't want to move anyone. Kadri quietly has 25 goals! 25! If you had bet me he'd have that many by the end of the year I would have laughed.
  10. Thank god. Gotta last until March 5. I've got a hotel deposit with no cancelation on it.
  11. If the ice situation changes can someone let me know in this forum? Planning to go Saturday. I can't believe this warm spell we are having.
  12. Looks like I get to go to my favourite Ice lake on saturday. Didn't think I'd make it this year.

  13. I find the flip overs heavy. I bought one a long time ago and find getting it to the spot can be a pain. I'm actually trying to unload my 2 man Clam Nanook so that I can buy a pop up. The weight is what will be the difference maker for me.
  14. Wow. Toronto has sole possession of the 3rd spot in the division. Regardless of if they make the playoffs or not, exciting time to be a leafs fan. Much as I can't stand the Sens and MTL, it would be nice to see Canadian teams finish 1,2,3.
  15. This is why, whenever I see someone that isn't in an off leash dog park with their dog off leash I tell them off. 'But he is a good dog' 'He never leaves my side' You just never know and all it takes is once.
  16. Gonna buzz one more question into this. We have decided to go with Reeds in 2 weeks. Super excited. Out of the 8 lines we will have in the water I'm going to say probably 6 will be going for perch and walleye. With the other 2, is there any point in going for pike or burbot? I remember seeing Joey pull a few nice ones out of Nip before but I don't remember them being that prevalent. If I stick a big dead thing under the ice is it worth my time? Same with burbot, I'd love to ice one of those but is it worth laying a ball of dead minnows on the bottom of the lake, or should I only try for those when the sun is setting? Thanks again for all the help. Just hoping to put some fish on my grandfathers dinner plate (If he could, fish is all he would eat)
  17. This was what also had me concerned. I was at Crystal Beach this weekend just outside of Fort Erie and it looked like a warm April afternoon. No ice, warm beaches. No sign of winter.
  18. Sorry to hear. My thoughts and prayers go with you. You can totally kick this cancers butt.
  19. Awesome. Thanks everyone. I've only been able to get out a few times this year and haven't been able to target the big species. I figure a morning on my favorite body of water North of Barrie followed by an afternoon on Simcoe should cure what ails me. Slush will be easy to navigate through. I just need to wax my smitty.
  20. The problem with fish online is I don't know how much I can trust except for the stocking lists. The depth contours seems legit though. So I guess these things are a starting point. Regardless, makes an easy way to kill an afternoon. Find a new lake, drive to it, fish it.
  21. I'll never go with Bell ever again. Rogers: Twice I racked up a massive phone bill. One was my fault, one was not. They removed both of the massive charges for free (saved me about $800 in total) Bell: Years ago I got a rocket internet stick with them when I lived in Wheatley. I canceled it after my contract was up. Around Christmas (3 months after cancelling I noticed they were still charging me for it). I went in and told them, they said the phone number for the stick had been canceled but I was still being charged so they couldn't cancel the account. 2 hours later on the phone I finally find someone who knows what they are doing. Them: Ok. Your rocket stick has been canceled. Thank you for choosing Bell. Me: and you are going to re-emburse me for the past 3 months I paid for. Correct? Them: Oh......... oh oh. Of course. One moment. (They weren't going to if I didn't press the issue). Customer service goes a long way for me.
  22. Hey byes' Was wondering with the recent influx of warm weather (and with the warm spell they are calling for in the next 7 days) if anyone knew if Simcoe and the other big bodies are still safe to fish? Would love to get out this weekend but don't want to take my life in my hands if the warmpth did a number on the ice. (Any info from Barrie to North Bay without naming lakes would be appreciated)
  23. Oh man. This has me wondering. I wonder if I could tap the trees at my parents cottage? My mouth is watering over this already.
  24. Agree with everyone here. Find fish online. Find stocking lists. Pick a lake. Study said lake for years and years. Prepare to be skunked lots. Heck, the last stocked brookie lake I went to ice fish, I drove 2 hours, hiked in another 4 and never even got to the lake. It's all a part of the process.
