  3. Can someone ID this one? compared to this one......
  4. I wouldn't reccomend the plans from HD. They will give you a basic idea, but usually, they are waaaaaaay overkill. Try Home Hardware. They have better plans, and they're also free. Sinker
  5. Did you actually catch that while reeling in that fish??? Oh man, I would have some fun with that bird if I caught it!!! Sinker
  6. About 20 years ago, before there were any houses down in that area, that creek had all kinds of fish in it. We used to even get specks and resident browns in there. I'm sure with all those homes around it now, that is a thing of the past. We used to call it critters creek back then. As kids we'd spend all day long down in that creek. Sinker
  7. Yep, for sure....... Sinker
  8. If your not too far, I could give you a hand with that......it would only take about an hour or so. Sinker
  9. Have a great day Beans, but most of all, enjoy the CAKE........mmmmmmmm......cake!!! Sinker
  10. Don't ask me..... Nice fish!! And could be the first one I've seen thru a hole in the ice!! Sinker
  11. Great report Ben. You gotta love it when you don't know what kinda fish is going to pop up thru your hole in the ice. Its alway good when they're huge and tasty Keep them coming man, we're running out of ice down here.......I'm gonna get the boat uncovered/ready today Sinker
  12. I use my Lowrance graph all year long. In the boat, and on the ice. I never leave it in the boat when I leave. Always comes with me. You can buy a portable pack for pretty much any lowrance unit if you want to. Sinker
  13. I've had lowrance for a long time too, but I've had to get them serviced a couple times. I'd rather have one or the other than nothing. The spit screen is nice though, I'll have to agree! Sinker
  14. Its that time again........
  15. I pounded nails for 12 years too. The Estwing hammer was the worst one for my hands. I found if I used a wooden handled hammer, no problems. Try it. I still use a 26oz hammer, with a good straight claw, but a long wooden handle. Made a world of difference for me. I drive a hand full of nails with an estwing and my hand is killing me almost instantly. If I use one all day, my hand falls asleep at night, and keeps me up. I don't miss framing one bit these days! Sinker
  16. My graph tells me how many volts are left on my battery. I think your over thinking it all myself, but I like to keep things as simple as possible. Much easier to fix that way......and things will break, that is a guarantee!! B reak O ut A nother T housand Sinker
  17. What your wife doesn't know, won't hurt her. Take the kid hunting......they are the future of our sport!!! Sinker
  18. I also like to have 2 separate units for graph/gps. All in one is great, but if it ever goes down, you have nothing. Sinker
  19. Its about the price of renting a boat for a day!! Get 'er done! Sinker
  20. Thanks Twilight........I wasn't expecting that. It wasn't so much a debate, I thought it was a discussion. It's probably a brown, but what the heck!! I thought it was worth talking about........but ended up defending myself through the whole thread!!! Sinker
  21. I run my lights off a small 12V/7Ah battery, that I use for my graph in the winter. I can run the lights all night long, no problem. No need for a 50lb battery to run a few lights. It just takes up space and adds weight. Sinker
  22. The only problem with a late august hunt, is a lot of the crops aren't off yet. The geese haven't set up a regular pattern, so they're hard to hunt. It is better when the crops are off, and they're leaving the roost to get the food......then its game on. Water hunting isn't as effective on geese only, as it is in a field. I like it the way it is right now. I'm pretty much on the border of two different areas. I get sunday hunting and a feb. season here Take your son out of school to come hunting with you. He'd probably learn more in a day in the field than he would at school anyways. At least he wouldn't forget it! Sinker
  23. Actually, there IS a Feb. goose hunt. Check the regs. Only areas that did not have a sunday hunt, got a feb hunt. The area I live in, had the feb season. It wouldn't be fair to people who hunt areas with no sunday hunting to lose out on the additional days, so they kept the feb season in some areas. These areas also hold large numbers of resident geese. Sinker
  24. There is already a feb. hunt for geese. The reason there is no spring hunt, is they want to kill the resident birds, not the migrators. The ones that stick around all winter are the ones we need to thin out. Most of the ones you see now are migrators. Once the ice goes up north, a lot of them will continue on thier way. Sinker
