  1. There was a lot of good info in that thread. A lot of people could have learned from it. There was a lot of solid facts in between the Bull. I think it should have stayed, but been locked. To just delete it is a waste. Why bother wasting my time adding facts to a thread like that, when it just gets deleted? S.
  2. Congrats guys!! Its about time, Paul S.
  3. What kind are you finding?
  4. I don't think the price will go up. Its a provincial park, and all parks charge the same to launch. The improvements will be nice though, its a great launch as it is. S.
  5. Im heading in to chat if anyone is around. S.

    RIP Sly.

I'm getting sick of losing friends to cancer. Sly was a great guy. First time I met him, we were stuck in a truck out on simcoe. There was a foot and a half of snow, in a white out, with 6" of slush. NASTY. We had all the gear to get unstuck, but Shane stuck it out with us and made sure we got to shore. He'd give you the shirt off his back in a blizzard......and take nothing in return..........just the kind of guy he was. Another time we got up to the lake, and forgot our helmets at home. No prob, Sly hooked us up, and we got out for the day. Seen him come running out of a burning ice hut one time too.........crazy bugger!! You won't meet a nicer guy, with more passion for fishing. A major loss to the icefishing community around lake simcoe. Full of great, real time info on conditions, and always willing to help out. RIP Shane, your going to be missed by many. I'm sure there will be many great stories with your name mentioned on the ice this winter, and for many more to come! S.
  7. No, they don't smoke as much as the older one. There is going to be smoke though. I kinda like the smell of a two stroke first thing in the morning S.
  8. I wouldn't hesitate. But if you want a 4 stroke.........just sayin. s.
  9. A trophy is in the eyes of the beholder. I've caught them up to around 48", but never that elusive 50"er. They are in there though, I've had one in my boat, and seen many others boated, just never on my line!!! I'd rather fight a thick 38"er than anything over 45" myself, they offer the best battles in my experience, and in the end, that's all I'm after!! The biggest ones I've seen have just come in like a log. S.
  10. Atta boy Mike!! Keep atter and you'll get that new PB. They're in there, and I know you know that S.
  11. I have no idea about the Barrie area, but the ganaraska forest has about 9000 acres of trails open for public use. Its $25/day/rider. You can ride all day long, and not pass the same trail twice. S.
  12. You can hunt from a boat, you just can't shoot from one. The waterfowl regs are found in the migratory bird act. You can shoot from a boat, as long as forward momentum has stopped. The priciple of that law is that you can't chase birds and shoot them. I'll be out whackin ducks as soon as season opens. We already have enough geese for now, the early season is just way too easy. S.
  13. I always have a spare. I also don't baby mine. It sits in my boat all the time, no covers, and not protected at all. I swear, this one has taken the most abuse, and lasted the longest. Maybe I"m onto something. I used to make sure it was out of the elements, and put a way properly, but this one has been going for a while now with no issues just sitting in the uncovered boat since ice out. S.
  14. Don't even get me started on the "not suitable for children" warnings on fishing/hunting shows. What a crock!! Its fine for them to watch all kinds of graphic killings on TV and video games, but they need to be warned about traditional hunting. Pisses me off to no end. Even my 8 year old son asks me what the warning is for I find the chronzy batter a little salty too, but I still like it best. We add a little flour/cornmeal to it to offset the salt. Seems to work a little better. S.
  15. Sincerest condolences Marvin and family. He sure looks a tough ole boy. S.
  16. When you do go get a new one, buy two, you'll need the spare at some point, for sure!! S.
  17. There's enough gobies in there now to feed them too. Dammit!! S.
  18. Naw, they're in there. I KNOW for sure. Just keep atter Pete. You'll get it. S.
  19. Anytime I hear the word Killarny, all I can think about is the portage up silver peak. What a freakin workout that was!!! Beauty country though, and I'd do it again if I could find someone silly enough to join me. I camped on top of the peak one night alone. What a great experience that was! s.
  20. You'll need a plan, before they'll give you a permit.
  21. What did you want to know? Smally has a valid point with the permit. You'll want to make sure you can even get one for that job first. S.
  22. I eat fish once a week, and I never buy it. I also don't freeze many. I do keep a small stock of perch and crappies in the freezer, but I usually eat them as I catch them. Ya can't beat a good fish fry!! s.
  23. I saw it last night at the drive in. It was OK, but totally predictable. Just kinda cool to have all the action boys on one set I guess. S.
  24. Yup, I'd whack him!! I wouldn't even think twice about it!! I like those unique ones!! S.
  25. Oh man, don't even make my try and add it up!!
