  1. I've rounded up a bunch of jewelweed to try, but Its getting worse, and now swollen too. Loveley.... S.
  2. You mean giant hogweed, right? I haven't seen that stuff yet, but know all about it. S.
  3. Yep, what Cram said. I have the Bold, and like it a lot. If you want to play games, and use all the newest, and dumbest apps, get an iphone. I can't stand working from the iphone personally. S.
  4. Ha....the rose garden has been gone for a long time Wayne. Life is sooo much better now LOL S.
  5. TEP, get yourself a layout blind. I'd take a guy out on a field hunt, no problem. I'm a little leary about my local water spots, no offense, I don't even take my friends to those spots! S.
  6. 10/4 on the jewlery bag!! LOL! S.
  7. I saw a grouse in my yard tonight. Seems to be lots around here this year. More than usual. I'm gonna have to go for a walk with the shotgun. S.
  8. I've been told sunlight soap works good, gonna get some tomorrow. I live 10 mins from ptbo. Its everywhere, and I'm outdoors in it all the time, most of my life. Never had it. Seems odd to get it now.....I'd love to know what I did to deserve it LOL. No prednisone for this guy unless I have to be hospitalized. I wouldn't take that garbage unless it was a last resort!! I don't even take aspirin for a head ache...oh ya.......I don't get headaches. Hmmmmm S.
  9. How does it keep spreading? It started on my right arm, and now its popping up on my left...only in places I had a scrape or scratch.
  10. I've always made sureto wash thoroughly after working in it. Maybe that's why I've never had it? I certainly didn't wash under my arm when I got it this time...... S.
  11. See, another difference I've heard. The guy who told me about the jewelweed said its in your bloodstream, and can't be passed on to others once you have it. I have notice any little scratch or scrape I had on my arms are now the worste spots. Seems to make sense. I've always been careful when I'm working in it, but not overly careful.....if that makes sense. I wear pants, but no longsleeves, and no gloves, and I know my boots and pants are ALWAYS covered in the oil. I bet my chainsaw chaps are just soaked in PI oil. S.
  12. I just took some wooducks and teals to the dump today. Never even thought to keep some. I'll. Save some from my next trip for ya. S.
  13. Wow, what's next??? I hate to say it, but this country is slowly going to pot!! What a bunch of whiners people have become! Don't they have anything better to do??
  14. The problem is everyone you talk to has a different remedy. My bosses wife gets it a lot, and she swears a cloth soaked in boiling water works for her. Others say cold water only. I had a HOT shower today, and I tell ya, it felt GREAT!! Hopefully it doesn't make it worse! I'm gonna try the jewelweed first. I got that tip from an old forester who swore up and down its the best thing...if it keeps getting worse, I'll have to get something prescription. My Dr will be happy to see me, I haven't been to see her for years LOL S.
  15. So, what your saying is now that I've got it, I will get it more frequently? I'm in the stuff daily....and I'm talking right in it....up to my knees. I can't believe I got it....such a bummer!! Mike, watch for it around here. I think its one of the worste areas of ontario for it. I've never seen it as thick anywhere else as it is around here. The stuff is everywhere! S.
  16. Ok, so you need your PAL and hunting license. They offer a course that covers both. Go to the OFAH website and do a search there for hunters ed courses, and find one in your area. Your 9year old can shoot a pellet gun, he just can't hunt. My son owns several pellet/BB guns, and probably knows more about hunting than any kid his age, but he still can't legally hunt. He's a better shot than me with a bullet, but he needs more experience on the shotgun. Your oldest son can register for his tests once he is 12. I tried to get my son registered for the tests early, but. They won't allow it. Any more questions, ask away!! Its a great hobby (bigger passion for me than fishing) and kids seem to really like it. I have. Seen city kids parent shriek when they see me with dead animals, but the kids are really interested in them. S.
  17. I've been doing the cold water and calomine lotion thing since it started. I have friends who have been hospitalized for days by this stuff, so I hope I can get it gone asap!! I've heard jewelweed is a great natural plant to get rid of it. I'm going to find some tomorrow and try it out. Hope its not all knocked down from frost already! I think I got it this time from the roots. Maybe its more potent? I dunno....I was putting in posts, and the last hole of the day had a big rock in the way, so I was down on my belly, reaching down the hole trying to remove it. It first showed up on the underside of my arm, near my armpit, and has since gone down my arm in spots, and down my side. My other arm has a few spots as well. Its mostly just annoying, but its getting worse for sure! S.
  18. Yeah, lots. Got one yesterday LOL S.
  19. I've never had it either, and I've worked in the thickest PI I've ever seen for years. I'm talking plants up to my armpits, dragging my tools, ropes, extension cords thru it...I thought I was immune too. So much for that theory!! S.
  20. I've worked in and around poison ivy for the last 5 years, and never got it. This week I've been a little run down with a cold, and hunting season on the go, and somehow got it. Its itchy LOL.....and spreading. Anyone know a good home remedy....that actually works? I'm pretty stubborn, and have the mentality that medicine just weakens our immune systems, so I don't take anything unless its really bad, but this is driving me nuts! Something natural would be great! Thanks in advance for any suggestions. S.
  21. Chris, if you want duck or goose feathers, let me know, and let me know what specie of duck too....I get a mix of everything. How'd the turkey feathers work out for you? S.
  22. That's all you need man. The kawarthas are loaded with waterfowl. Spend some time scouting the lower ends of pigeon, sturgeon, chemong......any of the kawarthas really. Find a spot, set your decoys, and learn to shoot. I know your a good guy, I've met you a couple times. I am a hardcore waterfowler. Its what I eat sleep and breath, but I've been burnt so many times by taking guys out that I've kind of stopped doing it. I went out for my first shoot yeaterday morning, and a guy I had taken out a couple years ago had bult a blind right in the spot I took him. I have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth right now, I hope you understand. Maybe if the guy didn't leave a half garbage bag full of garbage, and empty hulls laying there, I wouldn't feel this way, but that kind of crap really burns my butt!! If you'd like some better info on hunting around here, PM me and I'd be glad to help you out, and maybe even get you out for a shoot once I cool off a little. Sorry for the rant, but being the nice guy has come back to bite me a few times now. S.
  23. I'm assuming you already have a hunting license, since you said you hunted before?? You'll need a PAL to own a gun. I'd reccomend a 12ga, it will take any game in ON. As for your kids, they can only observe until they are 12, at which point they can get an Apprentice license and hunt with a fully licensed mentor. Do it man. You only have to do the course once, and you have it for life. Its a great tradition for your kids to be involved is as well. My son comes with me a fair bit. He will be 12 in Feb, and we both can't wait for the spring turkey season!! The kids can take the hunters ed as well as firearms license in one shot at the age of 12 with your permission. Any other questions, just ask! It can seem complicated, especially when setting up the kids. S.
  24. Those are some nice looking smallies!
  25. I've been seeing good numbers of grouse this year. I haven't been out for them yet, but the ducks have been cooperating nicely S.
