  1. Absolutely.... hope we hook one again soon!
  2. Hey everyone, hope the weekend was as good to everyone as it was to me. Unfortunately, I had to miss the Fishing For Tyler event on Saturday but I hear it was a great turnout and I'm glad to see the event not only going strong, but growing strong. I managed to sneak out for a few hours in the afternoon but I should have stayed home. Went 0/2 and must have put 20 miles on the sled. I was supposed to meet a friend this morning at 7am, but when my alarm went off this morning only a couple hours after getting home from watching UFC 127, I wasnt exactly feeling it. After a hot drink, i felt up to the challenge and I departed. We met up at BBP and took the sled for a ride. Not many people around at the first waypoint so we set up shop and never moved. We could only fish until 1230 so we had to make the most of our day. It was 820 before we were set up out there and within 5 minutes I had a fat humpback on the ice, it was a bleeder so he's going to the smoker. Over the next 4 hours, we experienced our best day in a while out there! With such a tough February season, it was nice to end it with a bang! Final tally was 15 lakers and 2 whities landed. Cal lost probably the biggest laker I've seen personally on Simcoe. He got it up to about 10 feet where we got a good glimpse of it before peeling right back down to bottom where the fish popped out on a headshake. I put that fish at 20-25 pounds, it was so devastating, and talk about a broken record for this season. Got the fish on a variety of baits although the Stinger and a smoke/purple slammer did most of the damage today.
  3. LOL I expect a busy day out there tomorrow.
  4. Well everyone, its been a busy couple of weeks for us here. Been looking for a new house doing the necessary Spring Fishing Show, and grinding it out on the toughest ice season I can remember. We're still getting fish every trip but its been a grind, and havent had a stellar day in a few weeks. February blues, we're almost through it. We've had the majority of our success in shallower water 70-82 feet for both whities and lakers. Hot baits have been Williams 1/2&1/2, Strike Zone Slammer on a 3/8oz bullethead and a lighter Michigan Stinger spoon when they're really off the bite. The slower fall and flutter seems to get them going. No videos this time, just some pics, and I'll be adding some more this afternoon. Enjoy them, if you have any questions, feel free to ask here or PM me. Hope to see some familiar faces at the Fishing For Tyler event tomorrow! Weather looks good!
  5. Simcoe Whitie Simcoe Laker Simcoe Smallies Simcoe Largie I love Lake Simcoe lol Now I want to go smallie fishin!
  6. There's a lot of things that could have been done differently, but as I said its all new to him and hooking a big fish for that is really exciting for anyone, and things you just learn go out the window sometimes in that situation. Unfortunately he lost the fish, but he's been informed of how he can better increase his chances next time, he was happy enough to just experience the fight.
  7. It's all new to him, hes loving it though and it will come in time when the excitement can be controlled easier... haha
  8. A good buddy of mine came out to Lake Simcoe with me still in pursuit of his first laker. The fishing was tough, but he got his laker and he lost a giant too at the end of the day... it has fueled his fire!! Moved a bunch to stay on fish today, walk wasnt too bad with the cold weather. Gonna get sloppy quick though!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPWlCrnQD4M
  9. Had a couple guys out on Simcoe on Saturday and the fishing was pretty tough. We were marking fish pretty steady, but we had a hard time getting them to go. Made a few moves and found some fish. Didnt land a lot, I think 6 or 7 between us the whole day but I can deal with that. Could be far worse. Took some fish on a jiggin rap, a tube and a big black mamba. Our best bite was in about 93 feet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG89yi10QhQ
  10. Sonnen was able to provide the perfect blueprint for GSP to beat Anderson. That being said, Anderson Silva is a good 25lbs heavier and 4 inches taller than GSP and I think that size will make the biggest difference in this fight.
  11. The fight will be for the 185 pound belt, so Silva wont be losing extra weight. Silva doesnt look out of place at 205 and I think he will be monstrous compared to GSP. I love GSP but I'd put a lot of money on Silva in that fight.
  12. Took a buddy out yesterday on Simcoe, looking for his first laker. We decided to walk which was probably the worst idea we ever had. You've got to earn your fish right now with knee deep drifts everywhere and slush pockets over our boots in some spots, but we made it. Almost 2 kilometers and 17 panting, please find me an inhaler air breaks later, we set up shop in 78 fow. Marked fish immediately, but they didnt bite for about 30 mins. Then, they turned on. We were fishing by 9am, off the water by 2:30pm and we landed 16 whiteys and 2 lakers. Lost about the same number within the first few feet of the fight, tiny mouths on those things haha. I also caught the fattest little laker I've ever seen. I said when I got it, I'll bet theres 20 smelt in that thing... final tally? 16 smelt, 1 goby Stopped filming most of them, but I do have some clips I added and some pics as well. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ETXCF6wO70
  13. Although I think Belfort is Silva's toughest challenger in a while, he hasnt fought at 185 in a couple years. I think if he doesnt finish it inside of 2 rounds, Silva will finish him by the 3rd or 4th round Griffin will beat Franklin by decision, on his size advantage alone Bones should be able to beat Bader, but Bader could just as easily win it. Awesome fight either way
  14. nice job!
  15. Good. Enjoy your trip!
  16. Ya because that hasnt happened 10 times this week
  17. Fishing this weekend was pretty consistent. We never smashed them at any point but it was steady catching, and as always there were better times than others. For the weekend, we managed close to 20 whities and only 3 small lakers haha. No herring this weekend at all, I dont think we even marked one. Kind of a nice change. Fish caught on the usual, williams spoons, tubes and laker takers. Fished 88-95 feet Got a few of the fish on video for you guys to have a peak at. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR7mGh4i29Q
