  1. See, thats what i was after when i picked up the bunny strips, i was looking at tying something more along those lines, ive always wanted to take a shot at them, but then my ambition kind of deflated, or i should say, got side tracked when thinking i could simplify my jigs, so i did that first. Ive got a pattern for the Matuka style just waiting to get back to the table lol
  2. Oh and just an FYI leech, i floatfish these jigs, im not much of a flyrodder either....and these are weighted jigs, not exactly in the "fly" family...so ya dont have to be a fly guy to float one of these in the stream leech, you got a spinning rod and reel? a couple floats? Go to it my man, youll be hooked up in no time! I only flyfish for stream trout in the summer months (dries) and thats not that often. I tie up all kinds of other "flies" or patterns i should call them, but always fish them under a float.
  3. Just like that Kemp. Wrap the needle and bead on the hook, bring your thread to the back, tie in the strip, bring your thread to the eye of the hook, "palmer" the strip up to the eye, tie off, clip excess and done.
  4. i timed a tie on the rabbits for ya lol, and it was exactly two minutes at a liesurely pace. THats just me, could be quicker, could be slower obviously. But at a pretty relaxed pace, thats what i come up with
  5. Ditto! I do better on them panfishing in the spring and summer than anything lol. Ive yet to hook a steelhead on one.......but its not often i give them an honest effort.
  6. Any fly shop will have them, gander mountains and Bass Pros im sure as well. Bunny Strips, the fur comes on strips about 1/4" wide. Any fly tying supplier online also will have them. Kemper, you ever sneeze while tying up marabou jigs, and forget about what it is youve just been doing for an hour..........POOF!!!!!!
  7. i heard one of the songs before i knew who it was, turned on the radio and it was on halfway thru. .......and seriosuly had a hard time figuring out who it was until it wsa over and found out the radio station was playing snippets of it every hour. It wasnt GnR to me at all. Some things are just better left alone. This one could have been left unreleased in my opinion. Great band, but should have let it rest where it ended. Im only basing this on a few songs, so i should give it an honest listen. But my first impressions are what ive stated above. That being said, ive said that a few times before, and ended up liking a CD so much after listening to it over and over that it didnt come out of my CD player for months. lol The metallica release, its definitely an improvement over anything beyond "and justice for all" to date. But again, i really think they should have stopped making music in and around the black album era. There comes a time when you just exhaust your music making/writing talents......you only have so much material you can create sometimes.....at the level these bands did anyway, and there comes a time when you should bow out gracefully and ON TOP. GnR did that i think, until this latest release. SHould have left well enough alone. THen again, they may appeal to a whole new group of listeners and skyrocket again, who the he11 knows lol
  8. I for one think they are pretty neat looking......we have a row of 6 here on the U.S. side just south of Buffalo as Im sure alot of you can see. They dont bother me at all and like i said, i think they add some interest to a pretty dull area of the waterfront. Look alot nicer than the smokestacks that used to protrude out of the bethlehem steel plant. THose were approved, but somehow, migrating birds have stalled the new peace bridge proposal for fear of them running into the bridge. Wouldnt a movnig target be even harder to dodge lol
  9. yeah ive seen some pretty wicked looking spey flies, a scrumptous looking fly for sure
  10. We did REAL well the weekend before this past one in the same areas. The water was on the rise and the fish were active as expected!
  11. Was stuck on tying marabou for the longest time and made the switch to rabbit hair, it may not be easier, but its a heck of a lot less messy.........and the action of the rabbit strips in the water is better in my opinion. Tied a few more marabous just to do a direct comparison on tying time and mess lol Tied these all up on a saturday and caught a bunch of these on them on sunday My 9 year old nephews creation LOL Hes got a good jelly wrap going on this one and LOVES making new and funky creations. And he is indeed HARDCORE LOL......he will get fully dressed in waders even if its just to practice casting in the front yard I caught this candid shot with a full look of concentration. Its just hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.
  12. Man that male almost looks red. Nice fishies.....too bad bout the gull, hope hes all good
  13. wow solo, you've become somewhat of a celebrity on here lol........you may want to start thinking about DVD deals lol.
  14. He wasnt looking for free pirated music, he was referring to i-tunes, which is a program used to load your existing music onto the device you just payed upwards of 200 dollars or more for to enjoy all of the music files that youve acquired (payed for). Guy is here trying to figure out how to get his existing music from point A to point B, not try and screw someone out of their royalties, its amazing what some of these threads evolve into lol. And i-tunes is free, well, i shouldnt say free, it is definitely rolled into the cost of your i-pod somewhere
  15. Ive used Ironsilk in the past and found it quite good. But it is no longer made Ive got suffix elite on now in 8 lb........and it REALLY seems to enhance the line twist. Im trying really hard to incorporate spin casting 100% of the time, but its more like 50-50 lol.
  16. Lucky duck, mine are usually of plane crashes and trying to run as fast as i can but dont go anywhere lol
  17. was just about to post that Drifter lol
  18. Its got character is all, its very interesting blowing the dust off stuff like this
  19. yeah, you got yourself a fly rig there. Not a centerpin/float set up. THey still catch fish though, lol THats quite the conversation piece youve got there
  20. Yes hawk.....YES, LOL .....that is the point i am trying to drive home exactly. 100% bang on! LOL I would never find myself in a position where i was being payed to be a weener to begin with, but if i was without realization, and someone pointed it out to me, YES.......i would stop if i were known to people, and more importantly my friends and family, as a Discrace.
  21. Ill be seeing you all very soon lol
  22. i consolidated your points to stress how the world these days judges success with how much money you pull a year, and in this case, what professional team you are affiliated with. Thats my point. I dont judge how much of a man i am, or any man is......based on the amount of money he piles up, or how many square feet his house is, or how many bentleys he can stack up, or if he plays for an NHL team or not. I judge based on character, integrity, you know?, ...the actual admirable traits a human being can posess. As for my hypothetical response to Avery ever asking me what NHL team i play for..........I would say, I dont play for an NHL franchise. Unlike you......I chose to recognize my real talents and apply them to something i could really excel at and end up making a positive difference in the field i chose. I chose not to compromise my self image, or my integrity, or the things my parents taught me growing up in order to be a decent human being. In the end, avery will be forgotten without piling up a single admirable, respectable statistic in the league as a single player contribution.....but so what, .......He'd have millions piled up in the bank right? Thats all that counts right?
  23. Dude, re-read what you've just typed. Such a sad comment. If you cant admit that or see that, thats even more monumentally depressing!!
