  2. Nice looking ride. Just watched the 2 videos off the website and it's very impressive. I can think of a ton of lakes I'd like to fish with one of those. Looking forward to your reports.
  3. Nice report Mike and congrats on the PB. Have a look at the Minnkota line of trolling motors. the clamp on that I have is almost 20 years old and still working.
  4. clams fishing line with lures still attached rod & reel combos (3 or 4 of these now) Buddy of mine did the same thing on the Kawarthas a few years ago. 2 largemouth at the same time on a redfin. seagull nets (2) But the best was a bikini top. Too bad i didn't get what was wearing it.
  5. That's where I got mine the last time (Shoppers). I'd try any grocery store or big box store. Pretty sure I've seen it in Canadian Tire and Walmart.
  6. My deepest condolences Ron, never easy to lose a friend.
  7. Thanks for the nudge Dan, somehow I missed it. Have plans up until September 12 weekend. Anything after that would be fine. If it is the 28th weekend I might be able to change somethings around.
  8. I guess it depends on the size of your group. Lloyd can take up to 4 I believe and you will not be disappointed. If the group is larger call Lloyd anyways and he'll get something sorted out for you I'm sure.
  9. The garage in a box is great. Been using mine for 3 or 4 years now. The unit lasted a couple of seasons but have had to throw another tarp over the frame to stop the leaks. The cover doesn't last forever but I just watch for the tarps to go on sale at Princess Auto and good to go. Nice and cheap protection for my boat 12 months of the year now.
  10. That battery is a light duty cranking battery, you need a deep cycle for your purpose. I'd look into what Fish4Eyes has suggested. Sounds like you would save a few dollars had have the right battery for the job.
  11. Great report. I guess I was pretty lucky earlier this year after reading your story. I had a hook in my thumb for almost 24 hours on our flyin. After several attempts to get it out we gave up on it. We did have peroxide and soaked the thumb. Then applied some antibiotic cream and left it there till we flew out. We made a collar for my thumb out of a water bottle so I wouldn't bang it around and that worked very well for sleeping. Once out the first stop was the hospital. The doctor had to pull the hook back out of the bone, twist it around and poke it through. At least that is what he told me. A weeks worth of antibiotics and no infection. Had a recent tetanus shot so I didn't need one. Thumb is still numb after 6-7 weeks but never did get an infection. Happy to hear you are doing well. These pics bring back some memories?
  12. After a couple of years of talking about it, Headhunter and I finally put our plan into action. Joe, along with his buddy Rubin arrived at my place in the wee hours of the morning. We loaded up and were off in search of some smallies on Lake Ontario. Once on the water we cruised the area looking for something that might hold some fish. We just couldn't find a good stretch with some nice weed/rock mix. So we just started to drift and see what we could find. Started tight to shore and drifted out to 30ft. If anyone is looking for a Gobies hot spot I can set you up. Up to 5-6" in length!! Trophies I tell you! But no bass to be found. Rubin is the Goby King if you are looking for some tips on what hot baits to use. After a few hours of exploring, we decided it was a write off for the day. So to try and make up for it we headed out for some deeper water hoping for a salmon or trout to salvage the day. We head out to 100ft of water and start dropping lines. Once we were set, something didn't look right. Reel in a line to find all 3 lines tangled together, looked like a nightmare. However, after a few minutes it was sorted and we were back in business. Joe and I we talking about my earlier trip this year with Lloyd and decided to give him a call. Had a few laughs about lemons and found out we might be too shallow. We were heading for deeper water but had a long way to go before we would reach those depths. The winds were picking up but kept going in hopes of one fish to make the day. We trolled for about another hour and were just about to call it a day when a rod goes off!! Joe grabs it and I tell him to keep going when he is wanting to pass off the rod. First fish of the day was a 15 pound Chinook. We were thinking of calling it a day just before this happened but you can`t stop at the point in time. So the rod gets set up and I start to make the turn to troll back to shore when another rod starts screaming. And then......nothing. We figure we should check the line, snapped off. Get re-rigged and set up then bang! Another fish on! Rubin is up and brings in a small salmon. After setting up and trolling for a very short time, a rod goes off again and I`m up. Well behind the boat we see this fish come shooting out of the water, rainbow on! I`m not sure how many times this fish jumped and peeled off line but what a blast! Finally, our 3rd fish of the day is boated. For my first time out there doing this, I`d say we did pretty well. Special thanks to Remo and Lloyd for the info share during the time we spent on the water recently and years gone past. It certainly is a great place here (OFC) for meeting some great people and learning a few tips and tricks. Tackle recap - No riggers on the boat so 2 rods with lead core on planer boards and one dipsy rod straight behind the boat. Spoons with green seem to work best for us yesterday. Here`s a few pics of the day. Joe and his stunning shirt with the 15 pounder. Rubin and his fish. Me and my bow. Had a great day guys, TONS O' LAUGHS!!!! Let's do it again soon!
  13. Great report Ryan. That first shot sure is purdy. The last shot is pretty funny, had that happen before. Say hi to your bro for me.
  14. WOW!! Glad to hear that you are OK Phil. Sounds like a very close call. Get tested to see what is going on so you can be prepared should it happen again. If you can't get back to your honey hole for medical reasons, just pm me the spot and I'll gladly check on it from time to time for ya. In all seriousness, I'm very glad to hear you are OK. Your kids need you around for many more fishing trips. Take care of yourself Phil.
  15. In as well, but I never win anything either.
  16. Video (CNN) -- A voice heard on an amazing video of 300 feeding alligators says it all. "I ain't never seen so many gators in my life." Ray Cason's biggest catch earlier this month, when he went fishing at Stephen C. Foster State Park in the Okefenokee Swamp in southeast Georgia, was two videos that have made a splash on Facebook and YouTube. As of Tuesday night they had garnered nearly 100,000 page views, according to YouTube. One of the videos looks like something out of an "Animal Planet" special. Alligator heads bob on the surface while others, in the background, gyrate and thrash in the water as they snap at mudfish, also known as bowfin. The alligators are jammed in a canal perhaps 30 feet wide. "With a high population of mudfish you can almost smell them," said Art Webster, supervisory refuge manager at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. "I've never seen footage like that before," said state wildlife biologist Greg Nelms who, along with other wildlife officials, told CNN this rare "cooperative feeding" happens once every three or four years. Stephen C. Foster park manager Travis Griffin believes it last happened in 2007. Griffin, who was not at the park the weekend of the event, said rangers saw alligators congregating about 10 p.m. July 9 near the quarter-mile-long canal that leads from the Foster boat area into open water near Billy's Lake. No one had any idea of the scene that would greet Cason, 39, of Homerville, Georgia, on the morning of July 10. "When I put the boat in you had the awfulest ruckus," Cason said. Many alligators were in the boat basin. He headed out in the early morning light with another boat close behind. Moments later, they realized they had about 150 alligators in front of them and 150 behind. Cason said the teeming alligators were hunting together. Many formed a reptile wall beyond the canal. "They would converge together," Cason said. "I saw gators pushing them [the fish] back [into the canal]. I saw them push them to the bank and eat them." Cason returned to the park the next morning, July 11, and shot more video. He said about 175 gators were visible. The alligators were gone by 8 a.m., according to Griffin. Although he and other wildlife officials said the waters are safe for boaters, the state park waited to be sure that wild morning. "I wouldn't rent my boats out until they were gone," he said. Stephen C. Foster State Park covers 80 acres. It is a small portion of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge's 401,000-plus acres. Webster estimates the refuge is home to about 11,000 alligators. He said he was concerned that Cason and the other boater may have been pushing the gators along and might have hurt them. "This was potentially not a safe thing to do." But Cason said he waited several minutes for most of the alligators to clear before he proceeded. An alligator bumped the boat behind him but wasn't injured, Cason said. The videos were posted by the Clinch County News. Cason said he hopes to show additional footage to school groups. "By no means is the swamp dangerous," he said. "It's probably something I never will see again." Cason had additional luck that Saturday, catching his limit of jackfish and warmouth perch. Life has almost returned to normal at Stephen C. Foster State Park, which is near the town of Fargo. Alligator sightings are at normal levels, it's hot and the park's beauty awaits visitors. Griffin isn't sure whether Cason's encounter will bring more campers and boaters, but it sure has raised interest in the behavior of alligators. "You can never predict what they are going to do," Webster said.
