  1. Agreed. Working in the automotive business, (example) you see a guy who has driven a Jeep Cherokee for the last ten years, keeps up with his full maintenance schedule all those years then decides to spoil himself with a Beamer, Benz, Crossfire etc... and when he comes in for maintenance on his new vehicle for the first time all heck breaks loose as they never looked in the maintenance cost before purchasing, as you try explaining that the oil change is going to be over $100.00 due to the expense of the filter and required European synthetic oil that is recommended, they storm out of the shop saying they are off to the dealership, where the same oil change is about $250.00 so they get one oil change cause they don't feel like leaving another shop again (or sometimes they come back ), and that's it, vehicle is either getting sold or driven to the ground like the one in the pictures above. Should of just stuck with that Jeep eh.
  2. That is crazy, I wonder if the owner never does oil changes, or if they use the wrong oil (non-european synthetics) and still drive the manufacture recommended 20,000k intervals in between oil changes? It is amazing that the people who buy these high end vehicles do not take care of them, or complain about the maintenance cost after they purchased them.
  3. I don't post too much on here mainly due to a ton of great members that already post some great stuff, but I always stop by for a visit. However, I do use twitter and post stuff about fishing, hockey, stock car racing and general banter. @faci81 Happy New Year & Tight Lines! -Frank
  4. I went down there yesterday afternoon the lower Niagara was murky/low visibility, two of us fished for about four hours and never had a hit, we did not see anyone on either side of the river catch anything the whole time we were there, one guy I talked to on the trail said he caught two Lakers though, I love going down there even if I don't catch anything, the hike and scenery is worth the trip. Here is a pic I took from my phone yesterday. This was down stream from the Whirlpool
  5. When I caught it, I did not know what it was, me and the guy I was fishing with guessed a brown trout, it was not till I posted it on another forum that I was told by other members that it was a small Atlantic Salmon, that is why I posted it on this topic, I did email John from the CRAA and sent him a cropped picture and he replied back and explained why in fact it is a brown trout, species solved. I did not think anyone on any forum was wrong in identifying this fish, I have very limited knowledge on trout/salmon species so who am I too argue, that's why I posted earlier, I was going to file it under uncertain species, either way I am glad I got a pic of my trout because I have never caught one before, so it was quite exciting.
  6. I never fish on the pier when I go to Maitland, I have decent luck with all sorts of species fishing off the rocks or the wall leading up to the pier (left side of boat ramp), so I would bring a light with you. I am not sure if the bite is on for walleye right now, as I have not been to Maitland in about two months but a quick google search on walleye rigs should help get you a fish. If you have any other questions, Steve Hardcastle at "Fishmasters Ultimate Charters Bait & Tackle" in Dunnville is very helpful and will have all the tackle you need before you head out. Goodluck.
  7. Well, I guess I'll just file this picture (when I get it developed) under "Uncertain Species, Brown Trout/Atlantic Salmon" I hope to get back out fishing Lake O some time this week and hopefully I can latch onto another similar fish and and take more detailed photos of it. It would be nice if the Atlantic's can sustain a population in Lake O, so we can catch more of these beautiful fish.
  8. You could be right, and I too thought it was a trout when I caught it, but when I posted this pic on another forum, everyone said it was a Atlantic Salmon, and after doing some reading, the fish I caught has a slight fork in its caudal fin, in which this fish has so therefore it may be be an Atlantic Salmon, as the Brown trout does not have any fork in it's caudal fin and a brown trout also has a thicker caudal peduncle. I guess the jury is still out on what exactly I caught? lol
  9. Just thought I would throw this up. I just caught this Atlantic Salmon yesterday, November 5th in Lake Ontario (St. Catharines) This fish was released unharmed.
  10. I've been fishing for Catfish for a long time now and out of all the internet stinkbait recipies that I have tried I have weeded all possible baits to my top five in order. 1. Minnows (dead or alive) 2. Worms 3. Cutbait Suckers 4. Catfish Charlies Stink Bait http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52269_100008005_100000000_100008000_100-8-5 5. Chicken Livers (dried out in the sun for a day, before the maggots get to it) Goodluck and happy fishing!
  11. Billsthebassman is right, Just go to Fishmasters store and talk to Steve Hardcastle he will point you in the right direction. Just for the record, I have been fishing the Grand River in Dunnville the last two weeks for cats and I have not caught anything worth bragging about. There has been alot of people fishing around the dam for Walleye, but I would suggest trying out Port Maitland, although you may catch more sheephead than cats, I'am sure you will have a fun time fishing out that way regardless of what you land.
  12. Wow, that picture brought back some memories from when I was a kid. I might have been around seven years old and I was camping with my grandparents at a local conservation area in Wainfleet/Wellandport Ontario when I met a young kid like myself who was fishing the same lake as me, but I was using a hook and sinker with worms and he was using a Rapala Husky Jerk lure. I was curious if he was actually catching anything other than sunfish and when he went to cast we could only see his line blowing in the light breeze in front of us and the lure never hit the water in front of us, and there was no trees around, when all of a sudden he says "Ummm, Is that my lure stuck on your ear?" and sure enough as I go to feel my ear, it indeed was, I had three treble hooks stuck in my ear. lol The funny thing is I never even felt the lure hit me, but I sure as heck felt my grandfather trying to remove them with a pair of pliers for about a half hour until finally the park ranger decided to pipe up and say, "maybe we should bring him to the hospital" lol Sorry for the rant, haha Hope your ear has healed up good Dave Bailey, Mine sorta did...haha.

    Tough Day

I have caught hundreds of sheephead a.k.a freshwater drum in Lake Erie,Lake Ontario Welland Canal, Welland River and Grand River. Many people do take them home for consumption, I personally never would, but then again I don't keep anything from anywhere. Sheephead are a fun and easy fish to target and I have seen some big ones come out of the lakes, a quick google search "Lake Erie Sheephead" will show you how big these guys can get.
  14. Good Job guys!! nice fish! I better hurry up and renew my outdoors card.
  15. I rely on minnows for 95% of my fishing outings, some would say "go and catch your own", in which i do, but when I am just getting off of work, I do not have time to go find a school of minnows to lure into my trap, so I go and support the local neighbourhood bait shop and buy them. Just for the record since it wasn't on the poll, I also use minnows for catfish
  16. Well, I just went to Bass Pro in Vaughn on Saturday night and bought a "Garmin eTrex Legend" and I think it is GREAT!! Although I am fairly new to GPS and this seems like a great beginner to intermediate GPS system. I have been told that Garmin with the Mapsource software is the best to get.
  17. This is ridiculas, I bought a bunch of ice fishing equipment last winter and barely had a chance to use it and this season looks to be worse.
