  2. Well I finally dusted the cob webs off myself and my fishing gear and got out and got the stink blew off me, Hahaha, first time in a little over a year, and three years previous. I must thank Crowman for this. I don't know how, but some how, he detected that I was in a rut, and I was, big time, and he mentioned that I needed to get out and go fishing. It took a while but I finally heeded his advice and sure glad I did. Can't wait to get out again. If it wasn't for your advise Rick, and I thought about it frequently, I'm not sure I would have. Thanking you very much just doesn't seem like enough. The wind in town here was 40 gusting to 60 out of the west which would have been perfect but when I got to my fishing hole, the Bow River, just 75km SE of town the the wind was brutal and out of the SE right in my face and the water was dirty but still managed to get my Kamlooper out far enough to get this brown. Not a big one but a nice looking one. Not the best picture as I didn't want to spend too much time with him as I intended to release him which I did of course as I do with most all my fish, but it sure made my day and broke the ice for the first fish caught on my new rod and reel. Thank You Rick.

  3. Oh I'm going to trim them well Doug, not a fan of candle wax and bile. But I'll still grill the trimmings for my Pup. Fresh pan fried Crappie, trade you in heart beat.

  4. Nice looking steaks. With venison, I ALWAYS trim off all of the fat, every single bit that I can. Venison fat is like eating candles.......... I leave a small amount of fat in venison for grinding and sausages, but almost none on steaks and roasts. Happy grilling! Me, I am going to have to make do with fresh pan-fried crappies. 😉 Doug

  5. My Dad used to raise pigeons for racing (but we would also often eat the "slow ones"). During a race...which were fairly long distances, for example North Bay to Toronto...it wasn't uncommon that some pigeons would never return...victims of various raptors. The coop in our backyard was not only a buffet for predators from the sky, but also various 4-legged carnivores. As a kid with a pellet gun it provided endless entertainment.

  6. I've not actually seen Peregrines take the Pigeons here but I have seen Coopers and Sharpies take Pigeons here often.

  7. Regardless which brand of electronics you're using, it's helpful to have mapping at both the helm & at the bow & to them & your trolling motor all networked together. You can drive around, do some side imaging and hit waypoints at the helm & when your at the bow, you can see the waypoints and have your trolling motor navigate you to them directly. Maybe a little overkill for some anglers but it's really cool & convenient when it all works.

  9. I've been grabbing a few screen captures today Weeds, pretty cool to see how much food the parents are bringing into the nest then removing what's left of the carcasses.
