  1. Last year on my trip with Mad Jack he mentioned that he has been fishing Chapleau lodge (Borden Lake) for many years. My best friend and long time fishing buddy Ken has been wanting to get away for a trip and one of his choices was Chapleau Lodge. After my conversations with Jack and reading every review I could find it looked pretty much like a no brainer so we booked it. Now the excitement builds, checking our gear, planning the food, the trip itself, reviewing maps of the lake, the route.... Just courious, anyone else fished the lake? Stayed at Chapleau Lodge? Any tips?

  2. Prepping and planning is one of my favourite pre trip activities Cliff, it keeps the excitement level at max. I hope you and Ken have a wonderful trip pal.

  3. Id you’ve ever had the pleasure of rebuilding/cleaning a carb you’d be blown away at how bad ethanol sitting in the float chamber can corrode and destroy your carb. I always wondered if it was just hearsay or preventative to a point, and then I learned to take a carb apart on my old Suzuki and I was blown away at the damage done by ethanol

  4. All this food talk is making me hungry. Here are some of my home made sausages and cured meats.

  5. Spiel, I am with you on this! When I bought my new Yamaha 4 stroke back in 2017, the Dealer made it very clear that i should not use anything above 87 octane. He explained the reasoning and it made perfect sense, but I am old now and cannot remember it well enough to repeat! LOL I was told by a very good marine mechanic that worked on my old 1987 Mercury 2 stroke, that i should run premium non-ethanol gas in my last tank of the year. That reason was just to keep the ethanol out of the carbs over the winter.

  6. Looks like you guys had a great time, congrats!!!! The vid reminded me of some of our trips. Some guys smoked the rest of us drank, while we all played poker. So much for a good night's sleep some of the guys played poker right into the morning. But they were ready to go out fishing at day break. They just left the table with their cards and the pot (Poker Pot LOL) sitting there for their return that night. Yeah they were zombies the second night; but the Bull about that day's fishing kept them awake. Well awake until they put some food in their bellies and then one at a time disappeared into their beds. LOL Good times, lots of fish caught (lots released even before slot size was a word) Kept enough fish for a fry up at home. Leaving us not afraid of showing a CO our catch, if we were to be stopped. Good times for sure! Thanks for the memories!!! Dan...
