  1. Did a 4 day trip last week to Wakami Lake. The weather was cold with overnite temps -1c and day time highs +8c on average. A mix bag of weather with wind rain hail and sun. The fish were all scattered with some suspending in deep water, while others were up on shoals in 10ft-14ft. Many hours of trolling with some success.

  2. With my son heading to the west shores,I decided I would fish with a couple of close buddy's. We met on the river bank at the same time. Had some good conversations . Amazing what we have in common, and somethings we debate. Myself,is just a sitter and listens mostly. Gets real excited when he hears the fish jumping. On the other hand, I, is one that likes to debate everything. Like ,should we have walked all this way when there are other spots that we can park at and a very short walk ? Myself pipes up and says, what are you talking about ? Listen to all the fish jumping around. Of course, me, being the just fish and shut up and enjoy the things nature had given us guy says , were here now and we are not climbing back up that hill. Both myself and I ,were very thankful me brought the rope. All three of us have bad knees and the rope will sure makes things easy getting back up that 40ft hill . Me,myself and I, got our gear ready. Still using that mojo rod from John Francis .Coffee and eggs for the morning breakfast on the ready. Once we could see our float, ( seems we all have bad eyes ) we began fishing. Didn't take long before our float went down, set the hook and we are all excited. Fish was landed. Great net job by myself, and of course,I, tried to take all the credit. We ended up going 1-6 in the few hours we were there. Fun time with a couple of close buddy's.

  4. Find some used Scottys. 1106 or 1116 (they're the same except for the dual rod holder). Run some 12-15lb Sharks and you'll be golden for anything.

  5. Scotty 1116 Electrics no doubt...ideally 12-13lb balls are what most Lake O anglers should be using at a minimum to reduce blow back and have a good presentation.

  6. Few things I have noticed this summer: Crazy amount of campers, boaters and RV's on the highway (considering no US travellers, limited out of province travellers) going to the cottage and even on our drive from Thunder Bay to Sioux Lookout Bass Pro and Sail were picked clean when it came to fishing and camping gear Doing a few small kayak trips locally I have noticed more people out than previous summers even though many parks are offering reservations Spending time on the water at the cottage I saw more fisherman out than I have in the past 3 summers combined On the flip side I have noticed many for lease or going out of business signs in smaller, local main streets which is very sad. Chatting with a few different outfitters I know that many are in tight this year and may not be able to survive another summer without American guests Strange times indeed. Hope everyone can stay safe and where possible buy local Cheers Andrew
