Rustic-Fisher Posted February 23, 2018 Report Posted February 23, 2018 Headed to Barcelo Mayan Riveria in the next few weeks , has anyone fished there ? Wondering if I should bring a rod and try fishing the area . No idea what I’m doing with regards to ocean fishing LOL Thanks for any info . R

muskymatt Posted February 23, 2018 Report Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) Wander down the beach and you can fish. Lots of beach to walk. I have caught trigger fish, needle fish, grunt fish and bonefish right off the beach. I use my fly rod mostly but a spinning rod works great as well. Small spoons and spinners worked well. Small and flashy is the key as I found. I'm heading down Monday to Mexico and plan to do some shore fishing again this year. I wa at Barcelo Maya last year and to the right of the resort when you are on the beach there is a rock outcrop, fish there. Shallow is best 2-4 fow. You will love the resort!
