water pump (impeller) replacement

I'm going to attempt to replace my water pump on my 94 25 hsp mercury, anyone have any tips on this job to make it easier. I've never done one before ,I know you take the lower unit off but thats the extent of my knowledge

Be aware that at some point you have to undo the shift linkage, either in the leg or at the head unit, depends on model/make. Also be sure to line up the water pipe and connector that brings the water from the impeller up to the cylinder head, that ca be a bit of a beach.
