Next problem with my Jiffy stealth ice auger.

Think I should throw it through the next hole if I'm ever able to drill one. Men, I hate that auger.

So, the new thing is that the recoil gets stuck when I try to start it.

If I start/pull carefully slowly all seems fine, then the harder pull to start it and it gets stuck. Very bad for the shoulder...

The decompression button I pressed for shure.

Is there anybody who had that problem?

I would have to have a look at it, I am wondering if the flywheel has slipped on the shaft and thrown the timing off which would cause it to fire early in the compression stroke causing it to kick back.

Where are you located?

Tnx for your answer.
I think the problem is mechanical.
Meanwhile I found out that there are 2 claws inside the recoil with thin springs underneath.
It looks like one of those springs is broken since one claw is loose and doesn't come back into the right position.
Brought the powerhead to a small engine repair shop.
Hope they have this part or a new recoil available and I can go ice fishing soon.

That is why I said I would have to see it, You are probably right but it is likely going to cost you at least 1/2 an hour labour (if you are lucky).

Let me know how it turns out for you.

One spring under 2 of the upper recoil dogs/claws was broken.

Since this springs are not available alone I had to buy a compl. recoil repair kit. In this kit there are 2 of those springs and other parts includet.

Dealer replaced the spring and gave me the other parts.

Labour: 15 $, repair kit 19 $

I think, a very fair price.

Post the name of that dealer because they did very well by you! Any other shop would have charged you at least double what you just paid. It is nice to see that there are still honest shops out there!
