since i seem to spend alot of time in the back country camping,fishing,boating,canoeing was thinking of buying one of these for emergencies. Price is 249(mec) and plans start at 14.99/month and can be suspended ,started and changed at anytime. Allows you to text anywhere and even post to facebook and twitter with global satellites. Anyone have one or at least heard any feedback? thanks

Ive never used one, as I get cell service around camp... but that looks like a pretty cool gidgit!

I'm only familiar with the SPOT GPS beacons - they work well.

 

I actually have one for sale in the misc forums if your interested - but it wont allow you to text from your phone, allows you to send predefined messages.
