Dunked My reels..do I need to do anything?

Was fishing and let my son borrow my rod with my Stradic Ci4.

 

Long story short: It took a real good dunking, sand everywhere. Should I take it in? If so, anywhere near niagara?

Rinse it with clean water and be done with it.

And don't forget to re-greese and oil parts after.......

take the spool off and give it a good rinse...wipe it down with a towel and make sure all the sand is out...wipe the inside of the spool out, good place for sand to get trapped...wipe the spool shaft down

 

take a q-tip and make sure there is no sand around the bail and roller

 

add a drop or 2 in the maintenance port and good to go

 

it's not the water that'll hurt the reel...it's the sand

These guys got it right, I dunked a centerpin in a mud bath, was about a 12-15" hole it was down for about 10 min until I peeled all my line off to retrieve it, tap water q tip and machine oil it's working great.
