Christopheraaron Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I was just emailing the MNR about a question (had to do with the lake wilcox fish sanctuary) and he said that he was not aware of any sanctuary, he said that if there was one that it was certainly not something the MNR put into place, does anyone know anything about this?
BillM Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) What zone is the lake in? Check the exceptions for that zone, if the lake isn't listed, you are good to go. You might wanna check this PDF below... Found it via Google. http://www.richmondhill.ca/documents/heritage_lake_wilcox.pdf Edited July 9, 2012 by BillM
Christopheraaron Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 I already did, I'm thinking that it may be a town rule, but it's been brought up before and I am wondering where this came from...
misfish Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 If it,s the one near Markdale,it,s probly locals putting the signs up.
Christopheraaron Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 Bill I have seen this before and if you look fishing is the responsibility of the MNR it says.... Brian, no it's the one in richmond hill.
BillM Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Yeah, its funny the MNR couldn't give you an answer.
Roy Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 This should help. http://www.richmondhill.ca/subpage.asp?pageid=prc_lake_wilcox
Christopheraaron Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks Roy, now I just need to find out the boundaries...
redpearl99 Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 on a related note, I went for a swim last week in lake wilcox and the water was just terrible. The bottom was this thick goopy quicksand material and there were almost no weeds. I remember just a few yrs ago how there was healthy weed growth in that lake. I honestly don't think many fish can survive in the lake anymore. I saw a couple trolling the lake for hours without catching anything
Christopheraaron Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Good to know pearl, the question I was emailing was actually about trapping leeches in the marsh part of the lake, I've completely given up on that lake for some time now...
