bluesky1713 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 I just purchased an HDS-7, but can't figure out how the white protective cover comes off. I don't want to force it and snap anything. It's on the unit really tightly. Any help would be appreciated.
Stoty Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Take it off one side at a time. Grab with both hands, but only lift the one side, keeping pressure on the other.
captpierre Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Had the same problem last spring. Radioworld said they put it on tight so it doesn't fly off when you drive fast. Push in the centre with both thumbs and pull the edges with your fingers. Works best when mounted. It will be easier subsequently Hope that helps.
bluesky1713 Posted January 7, 2012 Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks, got it off. It's on there really tightly though. Quick question. I am about to configure the wiring (to a small 12v, 8ah battery). There are two wires that split, and the manual says one is a data cable and one is a power cable. The power cable has a red, black, and yellow wire. Do I just need to set up the red and black wires to connect to the battery? What is the yellow wire for (a ground wire?), and what is the data cable for?

(I suspect all you need is red to + and black to - !)
scugpg Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Data cable is for networking tape those wires off separately. Red and black are for power the yellow is a trigger wire if you are powering up accessories only if your hds is on. Tape it off too.
ohhenrygsr Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 Note: The Cover is not meant to be used while hwy driving
