Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Sorry if it's a seemingly obvious question, but I'm just curious as to what diameter thread you would use for a 13ft float rod.
DRIFTER_016 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 You can use A size thread an any freshwater rod you want to build. The heaveier threads are best for heavier applications like saltwater trolling rods etc. Any heavier than A and all you are doing is adding unnecessary weight to your finished rod.
MJL Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Like Dave mentioned, Size A will work for just about every freshwater application. Over 95% of the rods I've built was with Gudebrod size A thread in various colours.
Spiel Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Definitely A thread, I use nothing else.
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 If I may add another question, I'm planning on tying 2 x 13 ft float rods, and a few ice rods. Any ideas on an amount of thread I should order for this type of project? How about the epoxy? Is it worth ordering in a larger amount for future projects?
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) also, what kind of guide sizes do you guys like to use for your pin rods? how about your cork handle lengths ? i'm looking for any tips you guys have for a noob. Edited November 15, 2010 by Dr. Salvelinus
