brifishrgy Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Thinking of heading out Sunday morning for some perch .. normally hit cooks but would like to try around Barrie docks (not as far to walk) .. anyone know if the ice is ok there .. I have herd there are some warm water outlets in the area .. thanks
Fisherman Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Barrie docks should be okay for you, last week people were walking between the first couple rows of docks, A-F, I'd be careful beyond that. Cooks has a good 6+ inches just about everywhere, there was a crowd this morning, colder than a witches hooter with the wind, but, there's a bowl of fillets in the fridge.
brifishrgy Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 thanks for the info .. might just hit Gilford with everyone else in the morning ... not liking the freezing rain forecast for the afternoon though
Rizzo Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 marina is totally frozen. I saw people a couple of days ago fishing right out in the middle of the entrance of the marina
BUSTER Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 i was in keswick yesturday loads of people, sleds no cars
tinbanger Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 marina and a good 100 feet out from entry ( maybe farther) has almost 6" of solid ice. caught some small perch there yesterday , or should I say Pikie caught some perch ...and a sucker ! tb
blakewalk Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I seen some folk out about 50 metres from the marina inlet, but watch for the warm output about 150 m SW of there, its a soft spot. Let us know how it goes!
