oxcowboy Posted June 19, 2008 Report Share Posted June 19, 2008 hey folks, i have a 1981 3.6hp merc that just doesnt seem to want to idle down very strong, it runs good while opened up, but when down to a low idle it gets kind of jerky and pingy. i was wandering if i ran a little seafoam through it might clear it up some. i have never used it before, and didnt know how well it worked. thanks in advance for any input. jason Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sinker Posted June 19, 2008 Report Share Posted June 19, 2008 Dont touch your carb until you run seafoam thru it!!! Decarbonize the motor, and I bet it runs great again. I also use a product called power tuner. Its made by Mercury, and comes in a spray can. Just spray it in the intake while the engine is running until it stalls. sully Posted June 23, 2008 Report Share Posted June 23, 2008 I once had a problem with one of my dirt bikes running crappy, poured some Seafoam into it and it cleared right up.
