  1. bluegill, page 2 of the attached document above. Terry, that's interesting to hear. (and good to hear). I've never fished spawning bass (or paid much attention to spawning bass) so I'm not aware of their difference in spawning characteristics.
  2. yep, its like we got MAD when McDavid's goal was disallowed. great stuff!
  3. awesome. beat the slovaks and the refs.
  4. good luck telling that to an angler who is allowed to fish for bedding bass. its like a kid in a candy store!
  5. i'll use a common lake with both, Lauzon Lake. Has some real nice largies in that lake. Many of the lakes that Lauzon airways flies to have huge largies. But i'm more thinking about the easier accessed lakes like Lauzon. I'm just trying to think of the logic the MNR used. I guess if your going to "open the can of worms" and allow fishing during the spawn, I just can't understand how/why they limited it to only smallies. I take this as "catch and release" on the largies and "catch and keep" (as per limits allow) on the smallies. How can an MNR fella try to charge someone for fishing largies, which of course, are out of season in May in Zone 10, while they allow it for smallies.
  6. So for the 2014 season they have opened zone 10 to small mouth bass all season. (at least most of zone 10, map linked below) Ok. (don't agree, but that's not the point of this post). What is strange is they only opened it to smallies. But in May/June up there, both largies and smallies will be on nests. We have now given permission to anglers to fish bedding bass, but only smallies? Number one, how in heck can that be enforced? (in waters that have both largies and smallies). Number two, why only open it to one? Again, I don't agree with opening it at all, but to only open to one.....that is strange. There has to be some reasoning behind this decision, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Thanks! http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/stdprodconsume/groups/lr/@mnr/@letsfish/documents/document/mnr_e001330.pdf
  7. i think my concern is how easily they will rust again. i know its tough on baits like spinnerbaits where the hooks are molded into the baits.... but ... if the bait can have the treble hook changed, now is the best time. stock trebles are crap at best (unless the lure is an expensive one coming with a stock gammy or owner) so buy a pack of #4 and #6 replacement trebles of good quality and you'll be ready to rock! i'm assuming because they are ice fishing baits the hooks are molded into the lures....in which case you certainly did the right thing....!
  8. i'm not convinced it'll be Reimer yet. we'll see. with a couple days off, both are strong options.
  9. i think this was a last ditch effort to keep ratings up on the show. my expectation is a&e suggested phil do something to create some controversy. likely all fell into their plan to save the show for a couple more seasons.
  10. but today's nhl is slowed down substantially. tv time outs are longer than ever. refs are allowing longer periods of time between dropping the puck. heck, we are seeing goalies going to their benches between puck drops. with modern training technologies, and the time that the nhl allows to keep their game "fast", i think its possible to play 25 minutes a game...especially as a defenceman.
  11. lupes would be the next best bet, but he never even comes close to playing a full season, so how do you give your captain to someone who likely is going to miss 1/3 the year (or more).
  12. we don't want to be like ottawa with no true captain. from whom we have, Dion is our best candidate.
  13. i think the linesman was embarrassed that he caved that easily. i don't think the cze guy intended it to go down like that. likely 2m was the right call.
  14. grt1, your correct. not a "standard" building construction for sure. the builder is known for this type of 'non standard' construction. i'm sure it'll be purdy when complete.
  15. at most recent trading, i'm betting they are worth $188. i'd keep them to pass on down.
  16. well, they have to see if they can "up" sail. bps is a joke among most, but sail is quite a good shop.
  17. look for christmas 2014. the builder does great work, just not often completed on time.
  18. just as a heads up, that suit is not DOT approved and cannot be used as a pfd on a boat. just a heads up.
  19. Ranger is very hot and cold beginning of the season, or really, even the first half of what they have played, ranger has been rough at best. but then every once and a while he comes through and shines. he has been killing penalties. he has been making some good plays. maybe he is coming around. maybe not. we'll see.
  20. hamilton is too far i'm guessing? bills bait has them on a wholesale level.
  21. with the vast improvements with solar energy (and do some extent, wind energy) it is becoming easier and easier to get off the grid.
  22. our hot water worked (gas fired) through our 47 hours without power. we resorted to a few late night hot showers.
  23. i'm back ---- after 47 hours without power. (3am Sunday to 2am Tuesday) 'twas interesting. Horizon was good to us...keeping us updated via email and even phone calls. great customer service. I was just settling into another night of candles, scotch and wine with some music with the wife....no heating devices 'cept about 30 candles in our living room. now the lights are on, she's cleaning the kitchen, and i'm on the internet. almost kinda wished they gave us about four more hours....i mean at this point, lol. hope all affected are almost through this mess.
  24. Its irresponsible hunters like the one referenced below is why there are issues. This is a freaking city. "My property backs onto the KILLING ZONE I have lived here for over 40 years The deer are part of the landscape in my garden I am able to identify many of the individuals by their antler shape their colour and by their habits. Last spring One of the “ladies” had her twins up close to the house and she allowed me to film it. Around this time last year another of “the ladies” came here to die she was SHOT I was able to track her back to where she was shot. If I could track her (I am almost 70) the Hunter could have tracked her and put her out of her misery. The RBG will never see another penny of support from me any any others I can influence" Yes, some sensationalism, but unless you are a hardened hunter I'm quite sure none of us want a dying animal coming to our property to die cause the hunter wasn't responsible enough to finish off their job.
  25. i wish i did. i'm not even insured by the company i work for, lol. pay just as much for home and auto insurance as the "rest of ya"
