absolutely. we run 4000 sized spinning reels off our riggers (with 15lbs braid, 4lbs diameter) for kings and we often have to "chase" them in the boat... if your on shore.....snap goes the backing, lol.

except the drag on the 800 is faulty out of the box, and requires an upgrade, while the 600's and below are ok.

1,000' of line? that's not very much, lol. with trolling you can have 300' - 400' (in some cases 600' of line out) prior to the fish hitting. then a good king, in may/june, will run ya 500' to 600' more feet...quite easily. tekota 800 sized reels aren't even considered big anymore. folks are bringing in salt water reels for five 500' and 600' sections of copper. these reels would likely hold 4000' of braid.

Awesome man! -
Hmmm.....

anglers tend not to have long memories. i'm sure folks will be using his services shortly enough. I mean, how many people continue to book with Merland Park? Same deal.

those rods aren't going to like down easter's very much!!! nice work spiel!

oh, i once lived a less than positive lifestyle. growing up taught me it wasn't going to work. some folks need help with finding the strength to overcome an obstacle. I didn't require that assistance, but many do. Those that do, all the power to them! if believing in "god" helps them out in their real life - good for them! In the end if you're doing better than you were, I'm not going to question the assistance used to get there. edit: spelling
-
I'm very happy there is religion and folks that believe in god. the water is busy enough on the weekends as it is. keeping the religious zealots off the water is a good start. they can chase the phantom god around while I chase the phantom fish around. works for all parties.

yes, the contracts with the OPA are guaranteed 20 years contracts and once connected to the grid, your Local Distribution Company cannot "reject" or stop purchasing your power generation.
-
you have to READ your contract. some will allow transferability, others will not. the standard OPA contract that you enter into if you own the system yourself (not a rooftop leasing agreement) allow for transferability. But I've come across a few leasing arrangements that do not allow for transferability. As always, read your contracts.
-
NightCrawler, that actually "is" possible. 100%. However, contractually, it is only possible if you have your own microFIT contract with the OPA, and your not leasing your roof/land to a 3rd party. If your leasing your rooftop or ground to a 3rd party, the contract will state you as a homeowner cannot willfully do anything to disrupt the power to the grid. Some contracts will actually financially penalize you for doing so. If you have your own microFIT contract with the OPA, you control how much power you are going to send back to the grid. The contract with the OPA does not stipulate that you cannot use power you generate. One piece of advice, and I'm sure NightCrawler can speak more to this, on systems setup for the microFIT program, the inverters used on the systems run off hydro electricity - and not the generated electricity from the panels. As such, in the event of a power failure, your system will not send the electricity to any storage devices (such as batteries). The reason for this is it's better to sell 100% of the power generated by the solar system to the grid at the increased price, then buy it back to use in your system at a much cheaper price. As such, a solar system set up for the microFIT program will not generate power for your house in the event of a power failure. Now your other option is to forget the microFIT program all together. Just purchase a solar system, a set of batteries, and generate/store to your hearts content. In this option your inverter will be setup to run off the panels generated power, and not a hydro electric system, as often these systems are "off the grid" to start with. Requiring an inverter to have electricity to operate would defeat the purpose of the setup. The final option, which has also been mentioned on here, is simply to lease your rooftop or land to a 3rd party company. That is simply a tenant / landlord agreement. You are the landlord leasing your rooftop or land to the third party tenant. There are many different companies that offer this service and as already mentioned, some are much better than others. There is some misconceptions on this thread, however, overall its quite factual, which makes me very happy! Good to see the public is starting to learn the systems and benefits of solar power. If anyone wants any advice regarding installers let me know. Oh, NightCrawler, upon graduation if you need any contacts in the industry, let me know.

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies

Yamaha builds a fine motor. All motors work in nice conditions. (or should) Go to Niagara / Queenston ramp in January through March and have a look at what everyone is running. another example of 10:1 Yamaha / Merc. -
same here. I was a "fan" (sorta, I did listen every morning for five years or so), then they kicked Jason out....so I followed. Been listening to Biggs and Barr since 2011'ish. Dean was always such a tool.

Mom keeps texting me rubbing it in. I just tell her wait for the Olympics!

Brian, I just want to be clear that my first team, every time, is Canada. We have this little battle in our household for every international event. My mother always cheers for Finland, while my dad, myself, and my brother cheer for Canada. I've always been clear with my family that Canada comes first. But second will always be Finland. (I'm fifth generation Canadian on dad's side. German background there)

if your kid is THAT good, but you cannot afford double A or triple A, you have to at least get your kid in A hockey. That will be enough to build skills so when they get to major peewee or minor bantam, you can then have them try out for the AA or AAA teams. At that age they'll get scouted enough to get drafted (if good enough). As parents you only had to shell out coin for one or two years of AA / AAA hockey. In Hamilton we have only had a few kids make it to the big leagues lately....all three of them played A level (used to be called Hub Hockey in Hamilton) until they were PeeWee, or minor Bantom in one case. You don't need to play AA / AAA all your years to make it to the big house.

I'm a happy camper. My wonderful great grandmother would be proud as anything right now. I'm first generation on my mom's side, as she was born in Finland. Very proud right now. (still would have been MUCH MORE PROUD if it was Canada - let me keep that clear. I am Canadian) But man, this is huge for Finland. It would be like us beating the States, in the States. Big stuff in Finland right now. Great job boys.

some folks want a perch dinner - no matter the size (i guess). i hope the fishing is good in lpb. it helps the minnow sales in Hamilton here.

what is the split of players that are currently in the NHL, that were eligible for the juniors? were the majority Canadian? a split? that's what I'm curious about. I mean if all the teams had players in the NHL, then its more even. But if it was a vast majority of Canadians that stayed in the NHL, instead of playing junior, then that could really swing things.
-
Man, couldn't even get bronze. But Finland is beating Sweden, in Sweden. If the Finns win, this will be really freaking huge for Finland! Go Finns!!!

They spent enough time on their skates to score 5 goals. We got beat. Its that easy. Nothing worse than making excuses for getting beat. It wasn't one or two goals. We've got beat by four - one empty netter. We had four (or five) pp's that we weren't able to score on. I don't like excuses. We got beat.
