Baitcast help! Gear ratio for slow bass applications
Steve replied to BillsTheBassMan's topic in General Discussion
MikeTheBassFisher, that is why I said I hope the OP was a rightie... Cause all the models you posted are right handed models. He has now replied he is left handed, making all your suggestions a moot point. For us who chose not to switch hands with our rods after casting, we must use the best Curado to date - The D Series DPV 201, as no models since have offered a 5.1 left handed retrieve. -
favourite is a small lake up north but without a doubt, Lake Ontario is my favourite common lake. From Niagara River all the way around to Port Credit Ive fished every square inch from the shore to 200' of water.... So many fish. Such a variety of fish. And still SO MUCH to learn.
-
also, i'm not familiar of a lake O launch that allows "locals" to launch for free, while "others" have to pay. not the best played devils advocate Bill - you generally do better.
-
Bill, name a ramp that charges $25 to launch on Lake O. I know you love to play devils advocate, but let me know about that one. I know Simcoe is one of the heaviest stocked lakes...from lakers to muskie.... How is it that we all pay to stock, but locals can launch for free....ridiculous if you ask me.
-
who pays to stock Simcoe? Just local townsfolk, or all of Ontario tax payers / Fishing License holders? It appears we all pay to stock, but only locals get to enjoy for free....outsiders have to pay to stock, and pay to use. sounds like a fair plan.

I sure hope you are right handed.... cause left handed folks get shafted by Shimano. your best curado to do what your looking to do is the old DPV series 201. but very tough to find and shimano hasn't released another 5.1 since the D series.... for what your looking for, i'd be going with a 5.1 ... even if that means not a shimano. -
i like to save these threads. its not often you hear folks speaking higher of okuma than st croix. each to their own
-
st croix are ok rods...on par with top end shimano or other similar rods. nothing wrong with them....
-
they are a good, higher end rod ... i own a spinning version and a bc version. they are not as high end as a NRX, but compared to rods I've owned, they are the next closest.

Until I purchase an onboard charger, I have to find a simple solution to charge my trolling motor batteries. I have three or four standard 12v chargers that I have acquired over the years. Over the last 12 months or so I've simply put one charger on each battery and the batteries charged accordingly. Sometimes I'd disconnect the jumper cable between the two batteries, sometimes i'd disconnect all the wires so the 12v batteries were independent, and other times i'd disconnect nothing. To me, it didn't appear that any one method made a difference over the other....well "maybe" they charged "fullest" when the batteries were completely disconnected from one anther....but that's a big pain in the butt to do every time I want to charge my batteries (which I try and top up after every day's use). Seeing that money is tight and I don't see a new onboard charger at least until fall at the earliest, I need to figure out the best method for charging my 24v system. Disconnect both batteries and charge? disconnect the jumper and charge? or disconnect nothing and charge? Thanks all!

short leads. anything longer than 15' certainly isn't needed....and it screws up your dive curves....

a framed quality map of the area/lake. bonus points if it is an old one.

I'm in Hamilton and will be buying a new roof and shingles/or whatever. I have saved up the money. Anyone have a reputable rec here in Hamilton?

Kirk, the lawyer Kirk? Good fella that guy. Safe travels bud.

many different baits "can" catch catfish... the best bait will remain fresh cut sucker....but if you can't get it....nothing wrong with trying...well...anything else.
-
thats because in the new nhl having 100 points doesn't make you that much better than a team with 90 points.... often that simply means you got more overtime points.... remove that silly rule, no more points for loosing, and a team's points (and place in the standings) will mean more.

this activity is what is going to make leaving huts overnight illegal. it'll be portable huts only.... all it is going to take is someone getting truly hurt from a sunken or floating hut then that'll be it.

been out five times so far...but all on lake ontario....not much help for "inland lakes".

nuclear will also be the ticket. but we need to supplement nuclear power with forms of green energy. green energy will never be a "primary" power source, but it needs to be the secondary power source....
-
ahhh windontario..... the P3TA of renewable energy.... i encourage anyone who is looking for info on solar or wind to look beyond the "P3TA" sites...there are many informed sites out there showing both sides of the story.... wind and solar energy may not be perfect....but no sustainable energy is.....

gotcha. I never really considered the movie producers going after the "little guy"...almost like the "it can't happen to me" theory. Quite often I download HD seasons of TV shows....not really movies, although I did download the two hobbit movies recently. thanks for the info and heads up. oh, quinte, a few friends are looking for a mini vacation location this summer....all the wives are coming though....so we were thinking quinte...send them to the wine tours, etc, and we fish. I'll let you know what the plans are -

gerritt, you mentioned your marathon of GoT. I downloaded the HD version of seasons 1 through 3 rather easily through BT. wouldn't it be just as easy to download 'anything' you want to watch via bt than go through one of these setups? -
my buddy had the 100mph, then took it back for the pro qualifier. take both of them, one in each hand, and CAREFULLY look over them and compare. you will notice the pro qualifier is better in virtually every way.
