Salmon Jigging - Rod / Reel / Lure Recommendation
Steve replied to Afraz's topic in General Discussion
Joey, no, you don't need braid. but if your jigging in deep water, yes, braid is hugely beneficial. the stretch on mono, using a one ounce jigging spoon (or heavier), in 80' or deeper, would be inefficient. -
Salmon Jigging - Rod / Reel / Lure Recommendation

i think his point is, if your going to jig in deep water, how does one use a mooching reel, as you are letting your bait free spool to the bottom? mooching reels (which are excellent for their intended use btw), would not be best for this purpose. a bait caster or spinning reel would be easier. simply open the bail or click a button, and down your jigging spoon goes. -
Don't worry bud, my home and auto rates are super high as well. i can't even afford to be insured by the company I work for. The ones in the drivers seat right now are large scale commercial companies, especially contractors, or those who need insurance for construction projects. I started in the industry in 2006. In the last 9 years commercial insurance prices have DROPPED almost 40%. Yes, dropped. Unfortunately insurance companies look towards personal property and personal auto to make up that difference. But, no more thread jack. Go Leafs!

I'm very fortunate. The company I work for has a box and 10 seats in the arena. I work in sales so I get to use them quite often. However, I understand it's business first, hockey second....yes, it's evil, but I enjoy it. Lots of us "suits" that "ruin" the game truly enjoy the Leafs. I'm not the only one.

hey at least when you have that super ugly colour on the motor, you'll be easy to spot when your floating around on the lake broken down :) ok, I kid, I kid.... like someone earlier said, all motors are good these days. Merc's, Yammy's, Suzi's, even Etec's. Some will say Yammy's are not good on gas. Others will say Merc's are only good as Anchors. Many still will say Suzi's are just a poor mans Yamaha. But simply put, which ever one gets you out on the water, and off of shore, is a good motor.

Saturday's game was fun to watch on tv. Tuesday's game will be even better to watch live. Unfortunately it'll be with customers, so I'll be in that evil suit that all the tv fans hate to see....but I'll be having a blast either way!!!!

just get a yamaha on the back...you won't have to worry about back up power. i run a 17' lund and have been using yamaha's since 2004. i have not been stranded or broken down once on lake ontario.... i just read your thread about your intention to jig. if that is the case, you won't be heading too far off shore...which is a good thing

7'6" medium heavy spinning rod (with soft tip). 4000 sized spinning reel. 12lbs braid and fill the reel as full as you can. you'll need the braid to feel the jigging in deep water. there is a fella (maybe he'll chime in) that jigs lake ontario for lakers....and he does quite well. you likely will not catch many, if any, kings, but you sure will find the lakers.... -
nope. just a fan who enjoys watching hockey. i don't pretend to be an arm chair quarterback. and i'll continue to gladly see them at every opportunity I get.
-
no professional team should tank to get a draft pick. that is weak. these are professionals and their job is to play hockey. name another job where you are allowed to tank just to recruit some new employee's. (well, maybe in a union .... nevermind)
-
don't know. not the slightest clue. but I can't wait to see them Tuesday night against the Rangers. I enjoyed watching the game last night. I like hockey. I like the Leafs.

If your not sure about the hostility directed specifically at the Toronto Sportsman Show ask some questions around tomorrow about walter and how he attempted to strong arm the spring fishing and boating show. unsuccessfully I may add. much to walter's dismay. talk to some of the folks who have been around for a while.... i don't want to get into the details on this board publicly. pm me if you want.

i just did a few searches and read suggestions to trade kadri for kane. gawd no - don't do that. kane is virtually a poison. no more than clarkson is however. but don't trade anyone who has a future for someone who likely won't pan out (it's a huge gamble).
-
No team wants the Kane bullcrap attitude. Well, maybe unless we can trade Clarkson for him....

Kesagami has changed dramatically over the last five to ten years. I have three close friends who have all guided there recently... I wouldn't go there.... It's actually somewhat upsetting to see the fishing shows still pound that place yearly...and when they catch a 36" in pike they all call it a trophy. In the early 90's a big pike on kesagami was 45".
-
bigugli, you are correct. That is why it is best to attend The Fishing and Boating show at the international centre next weekend. The "Sportsman Show" has become a joke. (likely due to the leader at the helm, Walter)

Late night fishing infomercials: Banjo Minnow Ron Popeil Pocket Fisherman Mighty Bite and of course, Evinrude Etec You just know a product is quality when it's sold on a late night infomercial.

ETECS best perform in warm months... head down to the niagara river in December through March... have a look at what motors on hanging on the back of the boats...

Many people left good paying jobs (not the retail folks, but the management folks) for grandiose promises from Target. There is no going back to their original jobs. Now with that said, if it's too good to be true, it likely is.... Some of the folks who left existing jobs really should have considered that.

Super Bowl 49, who do you like and what will you munch on?
Steve replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
i realized at the end of the fourth quarter that the NFL just isn't for me.... everyone who I was with raved about how good the game was.....so I knew it was "me". However, I definitely enjoyed watching the Grey Cup! Each to their own. -
i don't get that idea at all. the idea i get is, we see how the interweb will destroy the lives of certain individuals. i'm quite sure the shop owner felt that the interweb would do the same for this fella (ie, the windsor muskie killer). once I read that she knew who it was, and had their name, the fishy smell started building...

This is what a good team does: Mike Richards put on waivers. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/l-a-kings-place-mike-richards-on-waivers/ David Clarkson: 14 points in 48 games Clarkson carries a salary cap hit of $5.25 million for five more seasons

doesn't anyone question the poor quality installation job in the first place? why do new roofs need shingle replacing in 11 years? in many cases, the quality of new home builds these days is abysmal.

the blue brotherhood will defend the ticket until they are out of breath. ridiculous.

"The MNR restricted access to lodge guests only meaning the only people you will see on this lake are guests of Happy Day." It's a private lake? or the MNR has decided the public isn't allowed to use the lake? The Ontario Crown Land Site shows a bunch of crown land around the lake (vast majority of shorelines).
