  1. Hey ! I take exception to that comment. I know Big Cliff is an honest guy. And my shop is busy because I am too. Now can I retort about police officers?
  2. Fantino would like to have us all sitting in front of the boob tube instead of going out and doing what we should all be doing............... Going fishing.
  3. The history on the water level must be skewed in some manner. If the level was any lower than it is now I would not have been able to use my boat or even park it in the boathouse. Certainly would remember that.
  4. Well done report Will. It really summed up the weekend. It is a weekend that I really look forward to. Always a lot of laughs and good fun.
  5. If it ever was that low it had to be some time ago. Been on the lake all my life and my dad as well. Neither of us remember it being this low. Was there a date of when this happened?
  6. Nipissing may have been lower but definitely not at this time of year Raf. It is a difficult thing to predict. Little or no rain in March and April, and May is continuing the trend. If we do not get some moisture soon HH will be right about the Sherpas.
  7. Not sure where the foot of water will come from. The inflow isn't enough right now to compensate for the evaporation that is taking place. This heat wave will make it even worse. Hopefully this heat will bring in some rain....without the lightning.
  8. I agree Jocko. It moves a couple of inches on occasion with wind direction but it has not risen any.
  9. I have had guys fish with me that have tried something other than a jig and a worm. They will get the odd one but I have always caught more fish on the outings with my old standby.
  10. Nothing coming in....nothing going out. The main lake is well over 2 ft low as yet. What is really worrying me is what will happen mid summer when the lake naturally goes down even further. Not going to be good.
  11. Both are very good engines. My preference of the two would be the E-tec. Lighter and stronger. Better on fuel.
  12. As nasty as it is I am loving the moisture coming down. Hopefully this will raise the water levels on Nipissing.
  13. Nipissing is still well over 2 ft low and not coming up in the last couple of weeks. We need some serious rainfall.
  14. Good work Dan. The time spent on it was well worth it.
  15. Thank you for the plug Wayne.
  16. That one looks like a 18ft Nipissing. That is the most popular model that we build. They are a very good boat. If you would like a professional opinion bring it in to the boat shop in Powassan and get Joe to check it out to see if it's OK. Here is one I restored in the last couple months. It was built in the late 1940's. Yours is much newer than mine. Some boats had a fiberglassed bottom so the "soak up" wasn't necessary. The sun is an enemy of the varnish coat and will peel off after a couple of summers if kept in direct sunlight. A mooring cover is a good idea if it is left outside. We had a boat the same as yours that was kept inside a boathouse when not in use. In a 30 year period it only had one fresh coat of varnish. PM me if you would like the boat shops number and details.
  17. A guy has to get lucky once in a while. Just wish it was more often.
  18. Not looking too good at this point Jocko. I can run my old cedar strip but even that is kicking up mud in our creek. I feel for all the tourist operators that are in shallow bays and creeks. We really need some rain badly !
  19. Ouch Wayne, that really sucks. I wondered if that wind was going to cause some damage. It put my power out for 12 hours last night. How bad are your docks? That ice in the video was gone a couple hours later.
  20. O ya, I can think of one more thing Wayne but it would just mean trouble.
  21. Wasn't me ! Honest! Only had a few yards of ice to get through and most of it was crystalline. I wasn't going to turn back being so close.
  22. On Friday afternoon Dad and I launched our old duck hunting boat and went for a ride to check if we could make it across to the island. The water is so low my Seaswirl won't be launched unless we get some rain. Well we couldn't there but it looked like it would have gone out by the next day. So on Saturday I packed up some gear for an overnight stay and headed across. Sorry about the shaky camera but I did have to drive at the same time.
  23. I will second Irishfields opinion.
  24. Nice ride Rich. Now go find some fish!
  25. Brakes is one thing I would not let a backyarder try. I hope your repair goes well Michael.
