  1. Ok Guys this will be the last one of the School Hatchery Posts until next year maybe, lol, May 4 the High School headed for the Saugeen River in Southampton to Stock the Salmon at about 10am & headed off to the Port Elgin Salmon Hatchery for an Excellent tour hosted by our very own Garry Biederman at about 10:45 & he did a Great Job & stuck around until after 2pm, there was 3 part classes that went on this trip & they had to pay $10.00 each to go so they were into it a bit or they wouldn't have paid, after the tour, the ones that wanted to were aloud to fish in the Town Pond behind the Hatchery, I took 6 or 7 rods & tackle of mine incase they were needed & they were, one of the girls that had never fished before caught a small Rainbow & one of last years Brown Trout on my Grand Daughters pink Pflueger Spincast out fit & did the Guys ever get teased, there was a few Students that got to raise Salmon, Release them & go Fishing all because of a Science Class in High School now that's pretty Cool, check out the Video & the Pictures, one of which is PRICELESS lol Tight Lines Richard School Video & Pictures Enjoy
  2. The 2nd School was off to Stock their Salmon into the Saugeen River at Southampton today & what a beautiful day it was, Grade Jk/Sk & Grade 1/2, Touring the Port Elgin Salmon Hatchery & seeing 30lb stuffed Salmon was definitely one of the high lights & the Stocked Rainbows in the Pond behind the Hatchery The Saugeen Times Reporter did a great job of covering the Sacred Heart School trip to Stock their Salmon & tour the Hatchery Go down to the Article: EDUCATION Students free school ... of fish Tight Lines SBK

  7. Tell them to take a Hike, this will happen as not everybody likes selling tickets, I'm one of them Tight Lines SBK
  8. I believe the reason it isn't being followed is because we are allowing it not to happen, if things keep going the way they are at the Saugeen as fisherman we need to get together & put pressure on the people that make the changes, join the Ontario Stealheaders &/or your local clubs so they can afford to keep up with the raising of the Rainbows, Browns & Salmon, if they take the Salmon Quota away from us lets have the Membership Numbers to put pressure were it needs to be to get the Eggs needed to improve the Fisheries, I'm still a Bass & Pike fisherman 1st but the Salmon School Program is sure catching a lot of youths attention & on May 1st the one school is going to have a Video crew there to get footage for a DVD that will be sent out to all Boards so I've been told, how many Schools could have this program if the funding is there, Education & Fisheries seem to go Hand & Hand Tight Lines SBK
  9. Volunteers started to show up before 8am to get ready to Stock the 60,000+ Rainbow Trout, there were 4 tanks on trailers used to move them to their new home on the Saugeen River, Tires, Pumps & Air Tanks were checked, water was loaded into the Tanks & the Rainbows were on there way. Al did a great job organizing the Day, at least 3 different local Reporters showed up from the Press. Nice to meet some Old & New Friends. Job well done, Lake Huron Fishing Club & Ontario Steelheaders. Thanx & Tight Lines SBK Kincarde Rainbow Trout Stocking Video
  10. Always try to educate a youth if you see them doing wrong, good chance their parents don't fish & don't know the rules, I know lots of buddies that took their kids out & would be there casting, reeling & catching fish, when I asked them if they had a licence & they didn't, I told them if I was a CO you would be charged, there is nothing wrong with helping with casting, netting but don't stand there doing everything while the kids watch & they have went out & bought a licence so they could legally be fishing when the kids weren't, just a thought, good on all that educate Tight Lines SBK
