I was at CTC yesterday looking for something else but I check to see if they had blades. They did, but I was talking to another customer who said he sharpens his with a belt sander with a 160 grit belt. He'd tried various other methods w/o too much luck.
A sign of the times, unfortunately.
There was a study done recently that established that 1% of the people have 1/2 the world's wealth. If things keep going like this it will end very very badly! "civil unrest' would be a gross understatement!!
I can understand what some of you are saying that's it naive to put up a rink in the front and not expect some busybody to complain. Heck, letting a loud one rip is probably illegal there too! I just find it lamentable that we are becoming so tight-assed that the fun is squeezed out of everything. I'm not saying that the complainer in this case is a tight ass, but I bet if you shoved a lump of coal up their ass, in a few weeks you'd have a 24 carat diamond!!
JT---mine is straight, so must be Swede. I don't mind paying the $20 as long as that would fix the problem, but maybe the blade angle is the problem.
Thx, guys, for your suggestions. I'll try Normark in Oshawa if I buy new ones.
It sounds like 1 or 2 busybodies in the neighborhood with nothing better to do but complain!! Is OCD contagious??? IMO, it's better if kids don't live in a sterile OCD suburban neighborhood with cutsey trees trimmed to geometric shapes and lawns with the uniformity of astroturf! They need a place with a few 'rough edges', somewhere to dig or climb or rattle a few pucks off boards.

That's the one out near the airport rather than the one at the CNE, right? Holy cow---the CNE---what a crappy location for a show! Getting there is definitely not 1/2 the fun!!
Now I've read elsewhere that sometimes the blade angle is wrong i.e. too small and that it can be shimmed to make it cut better. I might give that a try, given that the blades feel quite sharp. Has anybody tried this and head success with it?
I know the charts show contour lines with 2-3 ft interval, but I was fishing yesterday and my sonar showed me an area 10ft deeper than an area further out even though the chart does not show any depression in that area. I know they can't show every tiny little up and down checked a couple of points about 100 ft apart and they were both about 10 ft deeper than further out..
It's a Normark, but the blase are marked MORA ICE (And lemme tell ya', there was mora ice yesterday than I wan't to drill thru ) I'm not sure if Normark is a manufacturer or a wholesaler e.g they sell Rapala lures but don't make them. .
I have a 6" manual auger that doesn't seem to cut too well. I suspect the blades are a bit dull even though it's only a couple of years old. The feel sharp, though. I'm thinking of buying new blades to see if that's the problem. I have heard that some replacement blades are actually better than the original ones. Comments? Any recommendation on brand or where to buy?
Thanks a lot, from Cranksalot!
Sad news indeed for your city, but I'm not sure about the whole country though. Surely other companies will supply the demand that Target was 'targeting'---maybe Cdn companies rather than an American one.
