  1. Seriously, I'd give him the deets and let him pay for it. No reason why all your hard work should be for his benefit. At least not the entire stack of wood or get someone to deliver wood that needs to be split and let him have at it lol.
  2. The cultural gap, gun culture that is, between the United States and pretty well every other Western, english speaking country, is wide and I don't see it ever being bridged. It's in their Constitution and that's basically as sacred as one can get so I understand their stance. fwiw, a friend was transferred to Miami a number of years ago and one thing he had to consider was whether or not to pack a handgun or not. I presume this was suggested by co-workers and I don't believe he chose that option.
  3. I couldn't find anything definitive about Autism or Aspergers and this killer. I've met a fair number of people with autism and could never imagine they would be prone to this type of action so I'd like to place this on other mental health issues for now. Hearsay from fellow students is not precise information. Either way, I hope the parents of the dead children will be given all the support they need to deal with this tragedy.
  4. The passion for fishing in this thread is pretty remarkable and hopefully bodes well for Nipissing. @doubleheader thanks for the timeline of walleye fishing on the West Arm. I'd be fairly sad to see it drop like that over the years with no relief in sight. As for sheepshead...
  5. Best reply so far and the way forward.
  6. Agree, this thread is about the bulgy eyes but when another poster noted the sale of two West Arm resorts and whether or not this had to do with the wally population, I brought up the other species to suggest that walleye, imo, don't make or break lodges up there. At least not in the WA, afaik. It'd be great if the numbers were like what many recall as the old days but the other species make up for it I think.
  7. but you've got love Mickey D fries
  8. damn Kevin, I'm sorry to hear about that. Leslie mentioned you were not well but damn. Hope there's *SOMETHING* that can be done and I have my fingers crossed for you and the family. Freddy
  9. Still plenty of bass and pike in the West Arm. I have no idea why walleye are held in such high regard. Sure they taste good but they fight like a wet hankerchief. I may be the odd man out but I really like the taste of pike (more so than bass) and keep the occasional one for dinner.
  10. I'm curious about stocked walleye and their habitat. Do they tend to stay in the area (broadly speaking) they were released or do they have a very wide migration pattern ? ie-if they were emptied around Island X in the West Arm, would they stay in that area for life or would they actually make it out to the big lake where they would be susceptible to the nets ? btw Kevin, what kind of commitment should volunteers be looking at if they wanted to help out ? cheers WB
  11. and one wonders if closing the ELA was part of this plan all along...
  12. Water is supposed to be the next oil, so is this part of the plan to make it easier to monetize ? I'm scurred for the environment.
  13. Other than seeing my dad quit cold years ago, I'm not a smoker so can't offer advice other than I wish you the best and hope it's an easy journey. Your pocketbook and body will thank you in spades.
  14. If she's looking for something fashionable, then I'd suggest steering away from CG if only because everyone and their relative is wearing them now. Maybe take a look at this Canadian company's parkas. A friend has one of their down parkas and stayed toasty warm in it. People might be put off or turned on by their cool/hip meter (their photo gallery is quite nice but maybe not for kid's eyes) but they're not as ubiquitous if that matters. http://store.mooseknucklescanada.com/ My hands down fav down parka was an early Eddie Bauer but I'm now wearing a North Face parka.
  15. look at the gut on that thing. there's some serious fatness in that photo
  16. because it's just a figure of speech ? kinda like saying holy 'you know what'.
  17. rotflmao !!! No matter which side of the fence yer on, there is so much win in this thanks for the chuckle break Hirk
  18. While it can be hard to actually say who is First Nation today, I don't believe this man is, I'd bet he's Euro. As well, in all the reserves I've been to, I have never seen a kid with serious brows like that kid in the photo. That screams caucasian to me. And as Wayne noted, this property looks like a good price on a nice lake.
  19. nah, I take philosopher over those two. or the guy who does the mail drop at my company
  20. I get headaches just trying to contemplate this very question and end up not having a clue and feeling like mankind is very insignificant when viewed against the entirety of what is out there. Kinda like how Marvin feels in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...sorta
  21. Don't forget Intelligent Design as a way to make Creationism look more palatable. No disrespect to those who believe we were created by an omnipotent being but I'd sooner believe that earth and it's inhabitants are a petrie dish experiment by another more intelligent form of life.
  22. ah, back up. wonder if it was down cuz of traffic
  23. There was this show I saw a few times, something about what happens to civilizations and buildings esp, if man were out of the picture and time and nature had at the structures man had made. Like Christopher said, EVERYTHING would eventually return to the earth. The timeline would make our lives seem like a speck of dirt but it would happen. All this will be pointless after Dec 21
  24. guess I'm getting a Bradley next year
  25. ha ha, meant that as a supreme compliment
