  1. Gas mileage will suck and you may have to pay extra for a higher mileage per day rental package if you're going to Florida and back. Calculate the distance and look at how many miles/kms you get per day. Tends to be pretty low.
  2. You could try the orange home improvement box store where they have these for sale. I'm not sure if these are the ones I use or not but they're going to be pretty bright I imagine. http://www.homedepot.ca/product/6-watt-40w-warm-white-led-light-bulb-1-pack/827152 personally, I would do as others have suggested and use a number of light nights for a path. these should work fine and they can be rotated if you need to aim them. http://www.homedepot.ca/product/navigator-night-light-2-pack/919477
  3. It's from 2010 but I trust it's provenance Whatever is happening, I think we're on the start of a really bad roller coaster ride. http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/coldweather-2009.html
  4. your options are a) buy a boat to suit the 20 or buy the larger boat then upgrade the motor later or c) wait for the boat you paid for and see if they'll cut a break on delivery or throw something in since it's late if it were me in your shoes, I'd buy a 14 which should be fine for 2 people. I've found 14's with 20 on the back run nice. wouldn't wanna run big water in that though
  5. New York Post feeds say a suspect with shrapnel wounds is under guard in a hospital . edit-Boston police say they don't have anyone in custody. Is the NYP wrong or are BPD keeping things tight for obvious reasons ? Just hope people don't jump to conclusions
  6. Not to make this political but I wish news readers would stop referencing AQ. They don't know that so don't make things worse than they are. I hope they find whoever planned this and deal with them appropriately.
  7. 2 more devices have been found and detonated. There are some horrible photos from the scene that will not be used I guarantee.
  8. saw it on the box. FIngers crossed it's not someone's agenda but a freak accident. twice
  9. I'm in Binghamton, NY for a few days and the weather is gloriously sunny and mild Found a nice TexMex place the other night, gigantic burgers ! A few days ago, was driving through crapola weather near Sundridge....
  10. no disrespect but comparing the US to Switzerland to Mexico is beyond apples and oranges. The cultural differences and circumstances are pretty wide. The violent crime in Mexico is because of the drugs.
  11. $60 for 5 years is nothing but I understand everyone's point about the grab. They created this mess by waiving it in the first place imo.
  12. Was also at the Cottage show and was liking the Alumacraft side console they had on the floor as well. Anyways, picked up a brochure and the dealer was in Kinmount. A bit of a drive from K-Dub though. Walsten Marine (walstenmarine.com)
  13. yup, cliff has super mad photoshop skillz
  14. paid in cash...like the story says, DEEEEEP pockets.
  15. Anyone ever seen anything like this ? That one bass must have a sore jaw lol. http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/excursions/post/angler-lands-two-big-bass-at-once-including-one-trying-to-swallow-the-other/
  16. So true and sometimes this gets lost. thanks for reminding us 'dawg
  17. My take is that while everyone pretty well has a handle on why a fishery may be in decline, trying to come up with solutions while doing nothing in the meantime, is check mate. While people are discussing, certain fish stocks are declining and we need to do something to staunch that until all parties can come up with a workable answer that makes everyone happy (or relatively at least). I may be wrong but I thought roe were taken from Nipissing stock in this case ?
  18. Was up around Sundridge today and grabbed a copy of the Almaguin News and saw this story on Nipissing pickerel. Unfortunate decision... http://www.cottagecountrynow.ca/news/article/1598418--pickerel-stocking-plans-in-nipissing-dashed
  19. For those worried about slipping on wet vinyl, I'd suggest laying down a few anti-slip friction strips. Have seen them in black, clear and white and placed strategically, these would help those wearing shoes. Not sure how it would feel under barefeet though.
  20. If you don't want to paddle in from Cherry Beach, then I would suggest someplace near the sailing school where the canoes and kayaks are stored. It's an easy carry down the ramp to the dock. Most other lots will not have easy access to the water. Also be mindful of where you are re: island airport. There's a marked off area for float planes and the marine police may come out to remind you to not stray into that area (I still ended up inside the buoys despite my best efforts lol). fwiw, it's a nice paddle from Cherry Beach and it's early enough in the season that sail and powerboats probably won't cause any problems in the gap. As others have said, stay in your boat and have a complete change of dry clothes in a drybag. If you have proper safety equipment (legal requirement) then you will have a whistle or sounding device on you for emergencies if that should arise).
  21. Ramping up for an election methinks but still good news if it does mean more $ for hatcheries and protection. Now if they could find some coin for CO's....
  22. Hendricks should get MacDonald first. THEN whoever wins, fights Ellenberger for the crack at GSP. Dana would probably have nightmares if it ends up MacDonald vs GSP. Would like to see Diaz/Condit Part Deux as well, Condit takes this one.
  23. That could have gone so wrong in so many ways, they're damn lucky. Would like to see wider photos of the water they were in, I mean that stuff is murky. and looking at the general vegetation, I'm not surprised it's deadhead central.
  24. poking around Pikehunter's link and found July 2013 is the magical date for 10 year passports. http://www.ppt.gc.ca/eppt/about.aspx?lang=eng
