2019-2020 Hockey Thread

It's a very different game - apples to oranges. Nobody's touching the Gretzky. I don't think in today's day and age Semenko would get past the Wheat Kings! lol -

It's like they picked up Duchene and the wheels fell off. He's got 2 points in 11 games so that has to be a major disappointment and Mark Stone is basically carrying the team right now. Hoffman is putting up points but he's a -10...not a good stat when you're the second highest points-getter on your team. I don't know why the top brass in Ottawa just doesn't join OFC! It's free and we did tell them they sucked! Shoulda listened!!! lol -
Overnight winter camping. Any advice helpful.
grimsbylander replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
I loved winter camping! No idiots out there blasting music....just peace and quiet. Dry is the key to comfort and the amount of time you're going to be there makes it easy. Make sure you have a good sleeping bag( I had a mummy bag) and just sleep in your underwear. Bring one complete change of clothes for the next morning that were stored in a dry bag and you're good to go. The rest is straight forward...just remember is gets dark fast in the winter so bring a couple good flashlights and get off the ice early so you have time to prepare dinner, clean up and be done for the night by 5:30 latest. Then you can sit and relax by the fire for a few hours. -

LMAO... how I never thought of that is beyond me! lol I checked this morning and Ottawa is L6!!!?? What the heck is going on there?? We bust on them pretty good but wow. Matt's going to jump ship again if this keeps up! Good news...the Duchess got a point! Yup, scored his first goal in 9 games. No assists yet but I'm sure something will bounce off him soon. -

Leafs should try to get Russell from Edmonton. Good hard-nosed Dman, moves the puck well, great skater and can already score Leaf goals. -
He's talking about the guides other than the tip and nipping the guide itself where it meets the wrap, not the rod.

Cha Ching! -
Since your working with decent quality rods, get them fixed up right. The ceramic rings are not replaceable on they're own as a good practice. Get the whole eye replaced with a matching guide. Don't cut anything off! the tip guide can generally be warmed up to release the glue and slip right off. Replacing it is just as easy. It take the rods to a builder/repair and get it done right.

Gee, you made that sound so easy! LOL Yes defense of course and two players would be the minimum. I think Marleau is a fantastic addition but I'd like to see another veteran added up front. Those are the guys that bring stability to a team during playoffs. Look at Nylander and Marner right now... both fantastic players, love them, but their points production is very inconsistent. So I think we're more than a one or two D-man away. Some more experience for these young players will go a long way when it's time for the big show. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and they go deep this spring. -

Better how? Better in the standings? I know what you're saying and hey, I'm a Leaf fan too, but I also know that Anderson has carried the Leafs in the last month and no team should be talking championships with that kind of volatility. You mentioned Montreal, great example of no goalie..no wins. I just think the current standings are lulling people into a false sense of security and the team that can make a serious run at a cup is more than a few acquisitions away. Hope I'm wrong. -
Honestly, I don't think anyone really cares if there is or isn't a separate spot for NF and you shouldn't care if it gets mentioned or joked about. Everyone on OFC with regularity appreciates the site and the work that goes in to it. Keep smiling Art, it's all good.

The fact he posted it all over Facebook is probably a good thing if he's going to pursuit a patent. Chronologically, it openly demonstrates he held the intellectual property first. If he sells this idea to a larger business to take over, they'll have a great paper trail of ownership. It's the good ideas that get mentioned causally to the wrong people that get sniped because it becomes a he said, she said battle. Either way, he should unload it for cash and a residual % of sales and let a business with the capital to build and market it have it.

So you think the Leafs are right where they should be given the time into their rebuild process? No surprises? Not me, I'm surprised how well they're doing and fully appreciate the fact it could slip away tomorrow. A hot goalie is not a rebuild plan and neither is 40+ shots a night. -

No problem. "Perpetual rebuild" is well put. As far as rebuilds go, I see the Leafs as playing well above their station but the Oilers are playing well below. I know it's not black and white but the timeline for a rebuild has to better than 7+ years and still not making the playoffs...first picks aside. If the Leafs are still struggling to make the playoffs in 2023 with one first overall pick I'll be more than a little disappointed. Babcock rocks. -

I believe I just said that. I don't think Edmonton can use the rebuild excuse for where they are. They got their initial first round pick 7 years ago and have had 4 total in that period. All this plus their rebuild started long before the Taylor Hall pick in 2010. -

I've been saying for weeks that I can't believe there hasn't been a major shakeup in Edmonton. At this point their entire season is at stake. See what happens when you have an abundance of great forwards and mediocre defence? Pay attention Toronto. -

Hey Matt, do you work at the ACC putting the Leaf goals up on the scoreboard? You always get busy when the Leafs are winning.
