  1. I was in BPS last week and by chance I wanted to pick up a swing away tongue kit. I was told that BPS no longer sells them or installs them due to a security, and claims issues. Has anyone installed one and has anyone heard of just such a thing
  2. thanks for the great comments so far, he is still talking about it, I didnt think he would have loved it that much
  3. Gerritt socks eh...do tell
  4. thanks Craig appreciated... Funny thing when my son was looking at the picstures with me ( on the WII, actually pretty cool you can insert an sd card and watch it over the tv) he was commenting on the color of the gloves, funny hearing a small boy talk about his dislike for pink gloves LOL
  5. Only having met Kareem near the end I can see how he was a man, a pillar of strength Mike and Kareem this fall Rest in Piece Kareem
  6. So I had it in my mind to take a run to Simcoe to take care of a long over due promise, having taken care of it the day before and seeing the up coming weather for quite some time my youngest son has been asking to go ice fishing. I promised him that as soon as weather permitted and the ice was safe we would go. Well today was the day, up at 730 he was and raring to go I tell ya With no fear at all he was on the ice relaxing and being a kid he found black ice so much fun, staring down onto it to see the bottom but after a while he got rather comfortable at it and started to fish in earnest, schooling his dad big time I fish a ton over the course of a year but any time I can get out with one of the kids I swear Im in heaven. Given the bit of health concerns I have that lead to me having to quite smoking I found today even more rewarding. It wasa tough bite over 16 fow but once we moved over 30 feet it was game on with waves of schools on a timer, which was fantastic for my son and awsome to see him on fish as he knows its our Christmas eve Tomm night and a fish fry is a traditional event he wanted to make sure he had dinner taken care of... I honestly believe this kid of mine will be a bass dude check out the hold, classic bass hold LOL Any how dont want it to be an overly long post, but suffice to say hearing my son tell his mom " it was the best day of his life" made it well worth it thanks for reading
  7. looks really sweet Tony.......When can we light up a bon fire and drink some beers around it
  8. someone once said " wine is fine but liquor is quicker" Keep the faith there
  9. Meggs for life.........now!!
  10. thats sacreligious......some very nice water in that state too Hey Mike many have called me fat portly some have even called me a large jolly sort, but sloth thats a good one
  11. Great thread Some extremely well thought out points and counter points Smokey your right you never know who is reading these very threads..... Cisco your last post in certain instances is dead on and a completly accurate analysis. I wanted to drive this topic/ thread potentially in a new direction. Let me ask this question If OMNR decided to eliminate the conservation portion of a liscense and go with a full liscence, increase the fee to say $40.00 and match that very same money dollar for dollar into a newly created SPA, as stakeholder re injection to capacity how would the majority of anglers feel about that. Also as we know there are a lot of discrepencies in the regulatory package as it exists now, would a Q and A section on the ministries web site where a specific question on a specific body of water/river can be asked and the official answer be posted, would that be a helpful thing and something that would assist in clarification
  12. I use a 4 hp toro gas blower, works perfectly fine, and with the snow we had today, I had to do it twice to avoid the big piles, personally its all you will need. Now a 12hp self propelling, fancy one is mint it just ends up taking space in the garage that can be used for more fishing gear...
  13. in a really exceptional yr yes but for the most part its thermally stressed and other then chinooks cant produce any cold water fish
  14. salmon are stopped at streetsville ladder due to egg collection and the current managment plan, presumed wild rainbows are transfered by truck to an undisclosed location above Norval, to establish a self sustaining population browns are stopped at Norval. Streetsville is an impassable barrier as is Norval. Browns rainbows and Chinook are not allowed into the upper Credit at all. There is an Environmental assesment underway and craa hopes a ladder in Norval and an upstream barrier will be in place by 2008
  15. Its not really perception, habitat loss and degredation, climate change, exploitation rates that in many cases are not in line with sustainable fisheries all add up to in many cases supressed fisheries that are dependant on hatchery or regulatory measures to keep the status quo. Hunters and gatherer's we are and as such many feel the need to take a full stringer home for the table, while its within thier right in some instances packs of fillets end up being tossed due to age, freezer burn etc.... A fresh meal of fish from clean waters is a fantastic thing, a true Canadiana fare to be had for sure, but not if the resource we are fishing is not sustainable. Catch and release is a great tool to use but if habitat is degraded then simply put there will be fewer fish for all. Look at the carp die off this yr with the introduction of a pathogen, the conspiracy therorists might say it was introduced as a modus to combat the ineviable introduction of silver carp but in reality it has a lot more to do with habitat loss and ecosystem disocation. In truth as a single human other then lowering your own personal carbon footprint, not much can be done, until it becomes profitable for the corporations to want to work on these many issues
  16. Niagara parkway to Dumfries stay south and you ll see the entrance to the launch, roads getting rougher each yr but no biggie, bring some salt and sand, usually someone leaves a bag but always good. When I go I usually will carry a small pail of salt and sand mixed dust it before I go in and when I pull my boat out... 10 feet of vis just means a longer floro leader, off the 3 way, and I usually up size my slinkie to 1 1/4 with the three way 18" off bottom a few extra floaters in the roe bag get off at stanley, turn left then at the stop sign right and that gets you to the turn on the niagara parkway, turn left follow the sign to queenston Hope it helps good luck, was hoping to get on it this weekend but seems the flu everyone has and I have been avoinding has finally found me
  17. good point PH. Sometimes the consumer really gets the shaft and sold a bill of goods they dont need. Sorta like computer printers. 60 for the ink 50 for a new one with ink.
  18. OMNR was given a specific list of chat sites to monitor daily...it beats the press releases as its real time sentiment from the users of the resource.
  19. Im with Roy on this, usually if something is going to have a breakdown due to manufacturing its going to happen within a short period. Bought a TV last yr broke down in 3 months ( manufacture's defect) repaired and its good as gold.
  20. a lot more attention should be paid to Walleye, afterall it is the provinces number one game fish. As for where it goes, time will tell that.....but your right Wayne lots of years by lots of governements starting with Hampton when he was minister have lead to the fiasco it is in now. Hopefully this minister understands...on a side note these chat boards are a great sorce for ppl within the ministry as I know that alot sites ( I can t get specific on the ones ) are on OMNR media watch...which pretty much means someone is reading them on a daily basis.
  21. Roy I said it last week in a meeting at Queens park, that sadly a child or children are need to be mauled in order for a positive thing to occur with black bear managment, sadly I think this is one program where practive measures should be done as opposed to reactive
  22. Its 28 pages but gives a fairly realistic synopsis of where things need to start http://www.auditor.on.ca/en/reports_en/en07/306en07.pdf
  23. I just watched chapter 1 with my 11 yr old son, pretty moving stuff and makes us thankful when we have healthy children
  24. I used to love Christmas but the commercialism of it just turns me off, its gone from a festive season, celebrating Jesus's birth and a time in the year for families to get together and share in the joy...now it seems to be all about Santa his presents and what did I get........ We made a decision to not allow the commercialism of it to dominate our home, birthdays are special days and the time when our Children are rewarded and showered with that ever thier heart desires.
