Well, where to begin As of the last few months I have been working a decent 10 hour day and from the beginning of May have been on a baseball diamond at least 4 days a week many times until the wee hours of the night. All of which lead to the need for some serious R and R Sensing that the weather of Southern Ontario might not be up to par both my wife and I figured we should pack a few dozen movies to watch at the cottage, in the end it was the best decision we made in years, when thinking relaxation and some quality time with the family cuddled up watching movies..... the norm not the exception to the weather....over 3 days I emptied a coffee tin twice just from rain water!!!! Some how though we managed and truth be told I spent less time fishing in the early part of the vacation and more family time which to be blunt I really needed also.... We did do some side trips so the kids could see some of the great scenery that exists close to us... these hikes were enjoyed by the kids big time....nothing better then seeing children want to explore and ask a dozen questions like " what flower is that" or How old is that rock" Eventually though we had some clear weather and the flavor of the up coming olympics the kids decided they wanted two competitions to happen Tubing 101 where the chief effort of the driver was to flip the tube, followed by dock fishing extravaganza, where the most sunfish won but a bass caught gave an additional 5 points, biggest fish an extra 10 points and at the end of the week the eventual winner would be crowned and the prize instead of a medal was an all expenses paid trip to the store for a multitude of ice cream and suprizingly the winner of the entire competition was the youngest son this picture was worthy as the bass actually was caught on an unbaited hook...go figure Now in between all the " nice weather " ( insert yuk face) some actual fishing did occur....now the lake has changed with the bass getting smaller in average size, but they still give an awsome fight...fish over the weeks were caught on every single tecnique you can think of....but my favorites are always those you pull from under a dock... and of course the youngest with the pro pose lmao Getting tired of bass and knowing there is some fantastic back country rivers a few friends came up and we donned the waders and off we went...it also made me think steelies are in the mix in the near future but for now it was these lovelies we targetted two good buddies came to join me ( any one know who they are) One thing I certainly noticed but wasnt suprised was all the water that these rivers have.....one in particular had 5 feet of water where last year it was a 16 inch run...a great reward from all the rain Not to be pure cottage rats the family and I took a few road trips on, now my wife always has prefered sand as opposed to a dock but in the end we all enjoyed the rare sun filled days...Im thinking maybe she enjoyed the beach soo much because every morning the paddle boat came undone finally the reason I work hard Vacations always end too short....and now we plan for the trek to see Mickey and Co over Christmas.... Finally in an amateurish way I took some great video ( sadly most was deleted by my daughter, as she video'ed the puppy) but I managed to save this one http://www.youtube.com/user/miloman1001

Let me try and end this one the MNR staff who commented on the fish and I are on quite good terms, she knows her fish 100% trust me here....I dont think this thread was meant as an mnr bash, or worse a bash at the minimum wage people around..the fish is a nook plain and simple let the thread die before it goes to never never land and someone somewhere ends up with a foot in the mouth

it was an interesting thread thats for sure.........

I will never buy another ford product again
aniceguy replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
some really lousy stories here. Fusion Email sent Ok so the deal is this I called customer care at Ford today also took it to the Dealer as per fords customer care advise. All day car is in the dealer an 109 diagnositc charge was applied regardless of what the heck I did or didnt do. After a lengthy talk with the service advisor/ then the actual service manager, then the dealerships general manager I was told Im 4 years into a 5 year warranty Im exactly 4050km over the 100k warranty and that the dealer is not prepared to do a single thing....ford customer care or more aptly the senior manager at ford canada has said he will look into the matter to give him a week or 2 and that generally ford's policy is not to repair cars outside of the warranty unless there is or was a recall on it. Long and short F em....the ford is getting fixed and sold and I will NEVER dirve one again conincedently I asked that my ford employee PIN number be erased and that this will go right to the ombudsman for resolution -
years ago I bought the wife a windstar, great car to begin with but at 4 yrs old and 110 k the tranny went...no satisfaction from any one other then the 2100 I gave to the shop to fix it. Against my better judgment I bought an 04 freestar new, again a great looking car and I figured with a larger engine might be less strain on a tranny... Was I ever utterly wrong.....at 104k the tranny is now slipping in that car also.....needless to say I now need a tranny rebuild or to go buy another car.. im going to try and call the ombudsman at ford today to see what can be done but I have 0 hope on that department....... Now I need to find a reputable tranny shop any recomdations thanks

JB both of those sites have sections that list the local clubs....$300.00 I havent heard that one as of yet... One other point to mention....most of the clubs are usually looking for non boaters to fish....getting on a boat with someone who knows what they are doing makes the curve easier....and to top it off can even put money in your pocket
-
Join a local bass club for $60 generally. Then fish the club torunaments some are low key 10 boats or so some like the one I fished today are 20 plus boats. Usually the fees as a non boater are $40 or so to fish the tourny $50 as a non boater fee to the boater for gas and your good to go. Cant get much lower key then that where you can fish off a bass boat. two sites http://www.goldenhorseshoebassanglers.ca/phpBB2/index.php and http://www.bigfatbass.com/index.php

that erratic noise is your ducer pinging and loosing contact...not a betting man but i will say 99% is the ducer that,s gone off...try a different ducer to verify..
-
problem with the ducer..Sometimes losing bottom contact is as simple as the angle of the ducer its self

4/0 wide gap gami's I find are best when trying to run them wacky. As for the tubes it can be one the other or both depends on a lot of factors really

Frontier 13' 3pc ... the reason I could not sleep at night
aniceguy replied to a topic in General Discussion
A float rod doesnt catch fish the person holding it does. That being said the frontier is a batson rod ( visit thier site for additional info) The sheffield is more then likely made in a factory where additional rods are made over seas. I will say the mandrels are more then likely a knock off on the taper of a higher end rod and the graphite is of IM6 material. With the Loomis you are paying upwards of 100 for the name alone ( of which that name no longer exists) What I do recomend is scouring some sites ( FF.NET) and others in search of a decent used rod. -

copied from another site Below are threat level / wave height definitions from the NOAA site. Marine Wind & Sea Threat Level Threat Level Descriptions Extreme "An Extreme Threat to Life and Property Aboard Marine Vessels, Especially Small Craft, from Marine Winds/Seas." Storm-force prevailing winds with extreme combined seas. Sustained winds of 48 knots or greater (Beaufort Scale 10+). Winds of this strength, combined with a long fetch and duration, would be capable of generating waves of 20 to 30 feet or more. Visibility very seriously affected from dense blowing foam and spray. Freezing temperatures would create very hazardous freezing spray conditions. Small craft should stay in port. Conditions typical for a "Storm Warning". High "A High Threat to Life and Property Aboard Marine Vessels, Especially Small Craft, from Marine Winds/Seas." Gale-force prevailing winds with very large combined seas. Sustained winds of 34 - 47 knots (Beaufort Scale 8 - 9). Winds of this strength, combined with a long fetch and duration, would be capable of generating waves of 10 to 20 feet.
