  1. Lol rodwrap. Thanks all. I'm excited to try it out tomorrow after work.
  2. Yeah I actually JUST emailed them to ask if they had it available. Since I plan to do more it would be nice to buy local. That's one of the reason i chose to go black threads for my first rod. The resin seem to be very nice and smooth, crystal clear. No mess ups other then the tags on the top half of rod(which has all but 1 guide ) Next one should be pretty amazing.
  3. yeah FF 5 just came out, I haven't had any google maps issues on any FF versions.
  4. Bass any good to eat? I know people eat them but my uncle Randy always told me they tasted like wood?
  5. Yep, I got all my stuff from Mudhole, watch out for shipping and customs cost. Those 2 alone cost $100. The MHX blanks are suppose to be sold at the Canada retailler "rodbuildersupplies" but its not showing on the website. Mudhole is the only retailer that seems to have them which sucks cuz Id rather buy it from a canadian business.
  6. This is my first attempt at making a rod, this one isn't 100% done but it can be fished right now, ill be testing it tomorrow. Some things still needing work is the cork handle, I turned the single piece into a split grip, the 2 ends need to be rounded and some threading needs to be put at the cork to add esthetics. The top piece of the rod on the guides threading has the most mistakes. I should have burned the tips of thread off but I figured the resin would flatten it out, but it didn't. It did show me the mistake and I corrected it on the bottom half of the rod. I was originally going to go with Neon Lime thread for the guides since I love the color but decided not too since Ill probably sell it and make another one more perfect. Anyways here are some pics. This is going to be a good way to pass the time during the winter.
  7. Yeah, but I wanted to be nerdy. =P
  8. Fabreeze? The commercials show the little bubble take away smelly odor
  9. Really? The outline of the body and boat are way to crisp and sharp, they don't blend with the waterand background like a real picture. Only times you see this kind of stuff is in watching Bluray movies at 1080p on 1000000:1 contrast ration LED tvs or photoshop. Also, if you take a close look at the body outline you see the jagged edges of some one using the polygon tool
  10. I think Randy has the nicest, that first one is a keeper
  11. Just download firefox and it will import all you bookmarks. FF has more security and is over all better and faster then IE.
  12. I only have that issue with mono and fluoro. Never happened with braid and I also don't use a mono backing. When I load braid on my spool I do it like a baitcaster(stick a pen threw the spool then put it in a small box and let it roll, keeping tention with one hand). I use 20lb braid on my spinning reel.
  13. That's how I go fishing too here around Kingston. Glad to see I'm not the only one biking to the fish. But my bike is a crappy $80 one from Crappy Tire.
  14. I accecc my website with FTP and upload to my site then post the link with the tags. I'm also jailbroken so I have more options to do it.
  15. Wow, that's insane. I just started my first yesterday. I think my GF would kill me if had that much. I wish I did though, been trying to find a sewing machine for dirt cheap to make a lathe. Nice threading, don't think I could do that.
  16. Nice rod. I just my kit in yesterday and man, what a pain the guide wrapping is. Hopefully I can break it in with a nice fish like yours. I have one of my dads old rods with the same reel seat.
  17. Download Firefox 4, problem should be solved. IE is the worst web browser.
  18. I've seen some people on YouTube use old tractor tires from scrap yards for floatation.
  19. Nice pike. Hummm, I have that same hat, what are the odds?
  20. Ok here is the update for this lake. We only fished the east side(shallow) of the lake since we had a pretty slow boat. I caught 5 Smallies a few spotted/red eyes and 1.5 pikes at 20". I say 1.5 pikes because I had him hooked but just as he came out of the water he got off. I've also caught my first fish using a spinner bait. My buddy caught a whole whack load of crappie, sunfish and perch. He was using live minnows for most of the time and wasn't catching anything. He then switched to worms and started catching the pan fish. I tried one live minnow and nothing was interested in it, but as soon as I went back to my artificial lures I was catching them again. The east side of the lake is nice, average depth is 7-9feet with some places hitting 20-25feet. The spots we where in had weedy bottoms and some of the islands had rocky bottoms around them. Weather was just amazing, nice and hot. I look like a lobster now on some places. I'll be more thorough with the sunscreen next time. I'd go back to this lake again but would try and get a faster boat to get to farther regions and explore some more. What worked for me the most was soft plastics. I also found out that there is a boat rental location on the west side of the lake, so next time I'll be trying that side. The water seemed much clearer on the west then the east. That's about it for this report. Sorry I don't have pictures.
