Your favorite meal, snack, in the hut while fishing
manitoubass2 replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
I always bring fried bread and chilli. Here is a dumb story. About 5 years back a buddy of mine wanted to ice fish at night for ling and walleye. I was game for an allnighter down at my shack, should be a great time. He shows up with a case of tallboys and im just thinking "ok, should be a fun walk home in the morning" We walk down to my shack and get set up. Its pretty friggen cold, -25 or -30 ish. Propane is on and beers are going down good, we get into some decent fishing action around 11pm. I cant drink like I used too, so after about 6 tall boys I gotta good buzz going. Its all good times until the propane ran out. Ah well we got beer right? So we fish away and she starts gettig pretty darn cold! Now drunk we decide we better head up. Its probably about 3am Problem was by the time we were ready to leave, both of us drunk, and we are already frozen Longest stumble home ever. Falling over gear and such like the 2 idiots we are We get to my place and the unthaw begins. Not fun at all. We finished off the case and I slept until like 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Wife wasnt to happy either as I coukdnt fillet the fish so I just threw a limit of ling and walleye in the fridge as is??? -

If current is involved that would explain the concern. Current opens up waaaaay to many factors Sudden increase in flow, decrease, alternating water levels and water temp, if the flow is heavy change of structure etc. The list goes on

It was awewome man!(only because there was no attack obviously) I dont see alot of timberwolves as im basically in norther MN, but ive seen maybe 3 packs or so and they are ginormous! Id guess 160lbs or so but with that thick coat they look well into the 200s An unarmed man would stand zero chance surviving Thats cool Carp! Amazingly calculating animals. Cool you got to watch from above!!!

Im in a new neighborhood now Lew. Once the local drug dealer from across the street got busted, its a very quiet and peaceful place. In the first year of living here Ive had nothing stolen other than our cat, which I got back with the help of local police. There is one crazy lady on the block but she mainly keeps to herself. Shes older and seems to call the police alot. They are over there at least twice a week. Not sure why but thats her business. -

If ya dont have a snowblower use a scoop for that heavy snow, its waaaaaay easier and faster anyhow. The scoop us a hot item around here lol. Ive had about 5 or 6 dissappear. Which reminds my I need to replace the door on my shed lol I miss having a gator. I could plow a whole blow in about 30 minutes. Plus its heated so ya didnt get cold. I did alot of plowing in that thing to be nice, but mainly it was just enjoyable. Id have people offerig up 20 bucks for gas, which I would accept when I needed gas, but on a full tank I could plow for a week to two weeks before that was an issue -
The best way to tell its safe ice is to stay on top of it??? Seriously though, float suite and knowledge of the area are essential, oh and ice picks and a spud

This is rediculous but I admit it made me chuckle... My wife doesnt buy a license either. EVER... She is well known for catching her limit of rock bass and getting lost in the woods(20 meters from a road) ???? -

HH also has my vote. Unreal good service. This being a small town helps too. I know all the employees and they really will bend over backwards to please a customer. Plus they give me an awesome sponsorship for my ice fishing derby. Scott(manager) basically lets me go through the store for anything I need or want within reason. I even snagged up 4 buddy heaters 3 years ago and thats pretty pricey. They also give me jigs for free so thats pretty friggen awesome!

I have kids. Although I do enjoy shovelling, its not happening with my injury. So the boys stepped up and did a mighty fine job! Reward? Hot chocolate and the wifi password for an hour... Then more chores lol -
Smash ice. I never fully trust ice formed in current

Fully agree!

Nice to hear big cliff! Thats certainly a nice gesture! Our TSC is awesome so I dont have much to complain about. I might get a little special treatment though as I was the project manager building the new store about 13 or 14 years ago lol.
