  1. Yep MM, thats the size!!! It's hard to argue against it. On any body of water
  2. big swimbaits and fluke style baits. White is my favorite color. Strike King 7" Shadalicious are awesome in the sexyshad color. For flukes I'd use 5"-7 or maybe even 8" if ya have some, and rig em side ways Spinnerbaits, 3/8oz - 1oz, black/silver willowleaf and chart/silver willowleaf blades are my favs, I use Strike King Pot Bellies Northland tackle shakeyhead jigs with large senko style worms. Natural color or black/silver tail are my fav colors Fall time for me means covering water aggressively with larger then average baits
  3. I'm a family man as well, so I can totally understand this report! Amazing, def. nothing short of paradise. Wicked sweet family/nature photos as well
  4. I don't see any reason this wouldn't taste good??? It doesn't sound like something I'd do all the time, but heck, how do you think amazing recipies are discovered? You gotta try, and nothing wrong with thinking outside the box. Simliar to Dana, I've cooked lakers in brown sugar with a touch of syrup/butter, with just a lil pepper and it's unreal good. Also, naked walleye cooked in butter, and seasoned with nothing other then seasoning salt, is great as well.
  5. hahaha, this report is awesome! Many thanks! It put a smile on my face just because of how excited you are, and I feel excited for you! Very nice smallmouth there, and as you learn a thing or two, youll absolutely catch much bigger bass, and have a great time doing it. Thanks again dood, awesome catch, and awesome report!!!
  6. I agree RFS. I'm not gonna derail the thread, I just thought that "Natives" and over harvesting comments to be off base and completely ignorant. They have zero place in this thread, or on this site IMO. There are good people, bad people, responsible and irresponsible, ignorant and knowledgeable, those that obey the laws and those that break them. For whatever reasons, right or wrong. Bringing up race is just not a noble front in my eyes, especially to justify your own (moxies) actions or beliefs. To each their own, but what you get caught moxie, you'll have little support and nobody to blame but yourself. I bet it be tough to fish with confiscated gear.... and where a topwater is referring to a poop that floats
  7. Great job MM and Merc!!! Congrats!
  8. I'm not sure what natives your referring to? But my family, my friends, my first nations are more respectful of the fishery then they have to be, and much moreso then most anglers I witness on the water. We follow the laws, because its the right thing to do, and because I respect the fishery, as well as all the others that enjoy it. I spend countless hours teaching the same philosophies to my children as well, for future generations, mine and yours. To me thats a pretty generalized and offensive comment, and trying to justify your actions towards poaching, all the while lumpsumping humans, is pretty ignorant and downright rude. I can see where your coming from, but the law is the law, and you are preaching your case to some VERY serious advocates of our ecosystem/fisheries on this site. Thats just the way I feel... Take it as you will
  9. wow! Sweet
  10. Yeah, i didnt really mean it that way. Still, trying to take away an accomplishment of that proportion is pretty crazy.
  11. That must be really tough to deal with. The fact that he (and his crew) accomplished something on that crazy of a scale. Only to have most people tell you it never happened. He must have been very strong mentally to deal with that. Regardless, condolences to the family and rest in peace
  12. Nothing wrong with those at all! Great catches! Congrats on the successful summer as well!
  13. I'm on Rainy river between Rainy Lake and LOTW. It's nearing fall time here, and it gets pretty crazy how big the migrating fish can be, and for a period of time, huge pike and walleye are super aggressive. And LOTW had just insane amount of huge musky, always. BOQ hey, yeah, just stay home and learn that water, lol. It shouldn't take you too long to get a walleye over 30"
  14. at least your being realistic! Sounds like your bucket list involves lakes to visit, moreso then fish to catch. Head to my area, you might be able to scratch em all off in a few days
  15. , right back atchya
  16. I just crossed lakers off my list. I'd like to head to tbay for some trout action next. Marlin have scared me ever since I was a child, I'd like to catch one to either overcome that fear, or confirm that fear, lol
  17. thats true Paul, lol. I'm not offended or anything, its not the first time I've been wrong, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Learning is good, and so is the link provided! I'm thankful for that.
  18. Good to know, thanks for the link! Sorry for my bull
  19. ummmm, MNR do not have to obtain a search warrant to inspect your home/vehicle or boat
  20. I had the same experience on that lake as a teen (might not be the same lake you are referring to but it looks one in the same). Me and two buddies visited the lake for the first time to hang out and have beers with a few girlfriends. When we arrived, we were shocked at the view right on the lake! Wow! We quickly got the swim trunks on and walked to the end of the dock. There was a diving board? I thought, what the hell? I asked her "why is there a diving board? It's like 6 FOW off the end of the dock?" She laughed. "Go ahead, pin dive and touch bottom". I obliged. I resurfaced defeated, lol. We later trolled through what was indeed, 22 FOW. Fishing was incredible, but snorkeling was a def. highlight of the trip
  21. I've only caught one rock bass in the past 10-15 years, and it was pretty big. Of course it's fun, fishing is fishing, regardless of size or species! Sometimes, like RC experienced, you just gotta adapt to whatever is biting. All fishies are fun! Again, great fish and great pics!!!
  22. I'm out for an average of 5 days per week. But sometimes its shore fishing for 2 hours, other times it might be 13-14 hours out in the boat. I ice fish all winter too, and thats pretty much everyday. My kiddos are almost always by my side though, and it gives my girlfriend time alone or to bead, so she likes it too. Are time together is after the kids go to bed and or before everyone else wakes up. I'm very thankful for that.
  23. It would boggle your mind! When I had the pleasure of fishing Rainy with Simon, he was literally holding the camera in place with his hand holding the rod! Not sure if hes since upgraded? But yeah, I was shocked to see how well he filmed these videos while landing fish! Plus its a sweet angle
  24. man o man! Beauty fish! Gonna be tough to beat that PB, so yeah, get out there again today and start trying!
  25. Going out for rockbass??? You my friend are a dedicated angler!!!! Nice pics and fish, looks like alot of fun. (glad to see I'm not the only one willing to take a pic with a smoke hanging outta my mouth, lol)
