As it's written in Part 10 Section 142 of the Highway Traffic Act, there is no mention of dedicated/mandatory turns lanes, so as written Section 142 (1) would apply to all turns.

Agreed. It take less effort to signal all the time than it does to check in all directions to see if there maybe someone who is affected by your move. Also, "affected by your move" is always open to interpretation by yourself, other drivers and the police. Safest and easiest just to signal all the time.

As I said, this shack had reflectors and lights. The root cause of this accident was the driver driving beyond his headlight/vision/reaction time for conditions. Plain and simple. All the reflectors in the world won't stop this from happening again.

No one is saying it's a dumb idea. The fact is, is this shack had reflectors and lights on it and the sledder is still claiming it's not his fault and that it wasn't enough.

I wonder what his excuse would have been if it was a rock, ice heave of worse still, a stopped or stalled snowmobile. I just love the "it's not my fault attitude" that's so prevalent nowadays.

It's just not the speed. I knew a guy that hit a barbwire fence on an 67 Olympic one night chasing a rabbit across a field. It's was the idiots own fault and he was lucky to just get away with a damaged helmet and a permanent smile from the scar where he bit the wire with his mouth. That sled wouldn't do over 30 mph. Fast or Slow there's still is no cure for stupidity.

It's what the news media does best. Try to generate controversy over an event, thus generating more "news" to "report on", thus keeping them with fresh material all the time. As you can tell, I have a fairly low opinion of the "Fourth Estate" in our present day.

This isn't new. The town I grew up in in Western Manitoba had a guy hit a dock at night back in the late 70's. Took his head off. Of course speed and alcohol was a contributing factor. I've sledded almost my whole life and from the things I've seen, I have come to the conclusion that there is no cure for stupidity.

My cousins a Toyota Tech with 25 years in. I asked him about it and he said the fix was the addition of some shims to the pedal assembly to prevent it from binding. The ironic thing is that the recall only applied to Toyota's with pedal assemblies that were made by a North American parts supplier. Anyone with the same model car that was equipped with a Denso pedal assembly from Japan wasn't recalled. That same North American pedal assembly, by the way, is also used in some Ford and GM models.

There's a small island on my favorite lake, the best spot is about 10 meters to the south of it.

Anyone out here who's had their sleds on a lake this past 2 weeks needs to get them into a heated garage to melt all the ice out of the suspension. I did mine last week and it already needs it again.

Exactly my thought. The tails too forked for a Brookie and probably not enough for a Laker.

Unfortunately it's the outcome of the timing of freeze up and the amount of snow we've had. I've seen some bad years for slush, but none that I can remember as bad as this. It makes a person think twice before heading out to some more remote spots. Thank god I've hit most of my favorite remote locations already this year. If anyone is still think of heading out very far around here, I'd highly recommend travelling very lightly and fast.
