  4. this is a really interesting post.It seems that perch are a finicky bunch.I always get perch when i'm pike fishing, and pike when i'm perch fishing Seems to me perch think they are bigger than they really are and vice versa for the pike. I'm gonna try some of these suggestions for sure.

  6. after the first couple of days, all the neighbors pulled together and shared what we had.At one time i had 16 people sleeping on the livingroom floor in front of the fireplace.funniest thing was when i took the dogs out for a pee at night, the full moon made everything look like crystal. Awesome experience, but im prepared for the next one.
  7. please accept my heartfelt condolences.Losing a familly member is always hard.I promise you that i will always keep my PFD on while in the boat.If anything, you may have saved my life someday. Paul
  8. for me it was the 1998 ice storm.i lived for 14 days without electricity in the winter. After the initial panic wore off, we were able to stay warm with the propane fireplace.we bbq'd and use the coleman stove to cook and heat water. i remember almost knocking someone down at CT for the last pack of bAtteries. I apologized in the check out and shared them with him.Huge towers came crashing down in front of my home, and the air was blue with electricity.wild times

  14. a pine or spruce board would be the cheapest wood.you could cut it to size easily. For the bed bost knobs you could use a round dowel, and shape it with a sander until its a ball, then cut the ball off and glue it onto the post. Then brad nail it in place. the acual head board and foot board could be made of wood veneer picked up in any hobby shop. or just cut a thin piece of the pine or spruce board and cut the round contures on a band saw or jigsaw.

  21. Sunshine, lite winds, and only a couple of perch. Use the solunar chart today. It said best between 1.46 and 4.46 pm, and it was bang on.Got a few perch and just before getting off the river the wife said,"I'm in the weeds" "well bring it in,i'll clean it off" i said. She was kinda reeling in from behind her, and i saw something just graze the surface of the water.Must be a huge clump of weeds i thought.10 feet from the boat i saw it."Swivel your seat around slowly" i said. She looked as if there was a bear standing behind her."What is it" she asked, eyes wide open. I wasn't sure,so i just told her to hang on while i got the net, and keep bringing her line in slowly. 4 feet from the boat it saw us, and all hell broke loose. It was one of the bigest pike i've seen in a long time.Easily 36-38 inches long and 4 inches between the eyes.It was just following the retrieve back to the boat,no fight, just sliding in on top of the water.I stood up, grabed the folding net and just as i got in position, it came out of the water splashed the two of us, and cut the line like a piece of thread.we were using a small perch spinner with a worm on it with 12LB mono, no steel leader.hell we were perch fishing Oh well, the wife was stoked, she got a good look at it before it got away. she wanted to catch it again so i could remove the hook so it ouldnt be hurt I think this will keep her goin to spring.
