Awesome family day! I'd love to try some good freshwater herring. The ones on Nip just don't do it for me.- 26 replies

How would you call this one? (impaired charge)
Rod Caster replied to HTHM's topic in General Discussion
I find this disgusting. I can't believe a judge would ever let this one stand. If I was lost in the bush and dying and I saw an out of season deer, I would kill it and eat it and I doubt I'd ever be fined. -
Yep! It's a five man hut, but the queen seat sucks for jigging haha

Surprisingly, the outfitters are doing very well this year. I assume because of the lack of ice down south. I did very well on Wednesday and Thursday as well, so I'm thinking it wasn't a fluke... But that's all at the same location.

That's pretty funny, and actually not a bad idea at all to Pickle them. Imagine that on a cracker, dam!

I take pride in my fish-cleaning skills. Waste as little as possible with nice presentation. I'll try bleeding the keepers next time. I usually only do that with rainbow trout so why not apply that to ther species

Me and my Dad had a ridiculously good day of fishing yesterday. In 3hrs we caught 53 walleye. Only a couple were under 14", the biggest was 21" and we actually managed to keep our limit of 2 each over 18.1". It was a workout running around tending lines and changing minnows. Tons of fun!

A no photo Nipissing report - Feb 18 anyone wanna join me?
Rod Caster replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
Best (or dam close) walleye fishing of my life today. Report tomorrow morning -
Even though I never got one, I thoroughly enjoyed last years spring/fall near hunt; this year I'm even more stoked for it. I couldn't be happier that it's available to me here. I'd be interested in knowing if it's still a pilot program or if it's finally back to normal

But someone still has to pay upfront to do the work/fix the damages rather than chasing someone forever. This is not a groundbreaking idea, it's why insurance exists in the first place
-
Its somewhat of a valid question because boats don't need insurance, right. Also, it's more so of a public interest to have everyone insured on public land because of the costs associated with injuries or damages; if someone isn't insured, they likely can't pay out of pocket for a sled recovery or property damage or potential lawsuits without first going bankrupt. That's my take anyway
-
Warning: Old thread. I got into this conversation the other day with someone; he swears up and down that if you are on a lake with a snowmobile, that you do not need insurance, just like a boat. I would say otherwise, because who is expected to cover the lawsuit/damages when you hit a person or the sled sinks to the bottom. On the other hand, how come a boat doesn't need insurance when the same risks apply (enviro, property damage etc.)? I'll call my insurance someday to see what they say. Any new ideas from the community?

Where did you find a wine-eyes lens for you camera? haha. That's a great outing! Kind of romantic in a fish-fry kind of way.

I'm surprised that Algoma doesn't have similar conditions to us... Nipissing is unusually well-suited for vehicles; the snow typically gets blown off quick and she freezes up quickly once you get some decent cold. -

I'll guess 16 - 18. Elbow deep. Anyone wanna go today with me? I'll provide the ride out. If work is slow, I'll be aiming to leave town around noon. -
The walleye fishing was incredible! 25 in about 3 hrs averaging around 15-16". I caught one close to 19". This is the first time this year I felt safe enough to take my truck out, and last year I didn't go out much other than callander bay. I've always done well at this spot but today was better than any other day in the past 4 or 5 years for me. ... I'm happy to report I'm hoping to get on Nip several times before this season ends so I'll eventually post a couple reports with photos Lame report over

Hope your shack has lots of heat.

Captured this from my kitchen this morning. I'm only a few kms north of North Bay, but we always get colder temps than in town. If you fish today, you automatically get your man card....and black finger tips.

Free man on the land!? It kind of sounds like one of their tactics I knew a guy in north bay who tried to use the Free Man On The Land system to squat in and take "ownership" of a house that was for sale. He lost everything.. Not that he had much to start with, that idiot . This stuff works in some places in the U.S. apparently but up here it's completely invalid
-
This guy sounds like a lunatic. All you'd have to say is you never read the sign...not that it's a legitimate contract anyway; I'm sure a judge (if it ever got that far) would dismiss it quickly
