  1. Works for me and obvious it worked for you last weekend . I usually look for the cabbage weeds rather than the tall tree like weeds (best way I can describe) I tie my own bucktails mixing different colours streamers or kristal flash etc. I have found that early and late in the season works best for me. Hope this helps cheers glenn
  2. I am so happy the fly fishing bug has never bit me as it sounds like it is very complicated and require a great amount of skill ! At my age I like to make things simple and easy like cast, troll, gig etc Hope this hasn't offended any of you fly guys/girls The fly that is called a woolly bugger really made my day cheers
  3. Welome aboard FloatnFly You will find this board a great source of information and the members willing to share their passion for the sport.
  4. I agree with you Dave 100%, although with the added eye strain a nap in the afternoon seems to work well
  5. Take the feed into a central junction box then feed each fixture cheers glenn
  6. That made my day especially the look on the dogs face of WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!!!!
  7. My friend and I are heading too Quinte in mid Sept. for 3-4 days. The last time down there we stayed at Merland Park but the weather did not exactly comply and our 16 ft. boat bounced around like a cork. Turned quite religious because of that experience This time we are planning for Hay Bay or Telegraph Hill or ? as we feel rough water will not be such a issue. We are looking for a place to launch/moor our boat and a cabin, lodge, motel etc. Any advise on would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance glenn
  8. I am sure there are a number of individuals, like myself, who would rather fish with a partner, than alone sometimes. Is it possible for the OFC to set up a forum or section for those who are willing to either share a seat in their boat or those that are looking for a seat. This would be open to OFC members ONLY and sharing of gas/transportation costs/ liability etc. could be resolved between the 2 parties involved Does this appeal to anyone? Your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. cheers glenn
  9. Hi all Gearheads I have been to many classic car shows on both sides of the border. This was my love and passion for more years that i care to remember. On Fathers Day every year Georgetown Ont. has Classics For Cancer at the park. Great cause and some of the nicest, best restored cars around with something for everyone. If the wife or girlfriend kicks up a fuss about fishing that day, give it a shot you will not be disappointed. cheers glenn
  10. That would be great. On a day like this it would be something to look forward to! cheers glenn
  11. Great Choice I quit 28 years ago after my 2 year old son was diagnosed with asthma. It was difficult as I quit cold turkey. Looking back on it now it was one off my best decisions I ever made. I wish you the best of luck with this. cheers glenn
  12. I have switched to MacD and quite enjoy the coffee. The bonus is theirsmall seems to me is equal in size to Tim's medium plus if you are 65 or look like it you get a seniors coffee for 83 cents - BONUS cheers glenn
  13. Thanks everyone for the great advise. Since most of my fishing is on smaller lakes for eyes with the odd outing to the BOQ. Since I only want to purchase this once the 55lb. unit seems to be the choice to make. Now the fun begins to convince my wife that this a "must have item" Again thanks everyone for your valued advise. This site REALLY ROCKS !!! cheers glenn
  14. The unit is a 12V One more dumb question, why is cable steering more desirable? Cheers glenn
  15. Last fall I purchased a 1999 Lund 16.5 Fisherman, the boat came powered with a 40 HP Mercury 2 stroke with a trolling plate (jury still out on the trolling plate). It also included a 30 LB cable drive trolling motor, although it does work it is a really a bit of a dinosaur. I have been looking at the Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 45 LB unit, will this be enough to power the boat adequately keeping in mind that I have a fairly tight budget. Thanks in advance Cheers glenn
  16. WE live north of the city (Tottenham area) and the hub was are only option. Not exactly high speed but far superior to dial up. Check with mother Bell if you can link that many units
  17. I also picked up the Elite 5 G, after doing quite alot of research on the unit. I do most of my fishing on Balsam Lake and was quite surprised how accurate the chart was even to the extent of showing a mostly submerged rock off Grand Island (damn near mounted it last spring). The other option for me was the DSI unit but $$ came into the equation and I felt with the 5G I got more bang for my buck. Hope this helps. Cheers glenn
  18. Hi Sean Welcome from another newbie. Cheers glenn
