  1. Wow....great report!! Some really nice fish pics there. As far as the weather is concerned...well...it's unpredicitble at best!! What other profession can you be wrong more than 50% of the time and still have a job???
  2. Wow...I've had days like that as well, so I know your pain!! The only thing worse is no action at all!!! You'll get em next time!
  3. Wow!! Some nice hawgs there! Great report and pics!
  4. WTG!! Nice report and pic! Welcome to the board...hope to see more reports from you. I too am and shore angler...fish mostly with my wife (she outfishes me all the time).
  5. Glen...meeting you was one of the highlights for bly and I. You are every bit as strange and weird in real life as you are here on the board. All kidding aside, it was a real pleasure chatting with you. Congrats on a great trip...that walleye you boated was sure was a nice one!! Hope to see you again up there next year!
  6. Now fishing in a kayak (or tube) sounds like a heck of a lot of fun!!! Great job on the muskies...did you ever get and bass??
  7. Great report and it shows how versatile you are!! Some great pics there. A deer on the 401 at Whitby? Wow...now I have never seen that, and I've lived in the Ajax to Oshawa area my whole life!! Not good news on the carp...hope the MNR figures out what is killing them...and fast!!!!
  8. It was a real pleasure for bly and I to meet and chat with you guys! Loved all the old fishing stories from years gone past. Hopefully we'll meet up there again next year. Glad to see you made it home safe and sound.
  9. Wow...you have some awesome pics!! You should publish them in a book!! I've tried more than a few times to get action shots like that, but the damn shutter isn't quick enough with my cheapo digital camera...LOL
  10. Thanks Mike! Here's the link to the report from fishing with Slowpoke on Saturday...the only one who caught a big fish was...well....do I really have to tell you??? Bly....LOL http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8827
  11. Great report! Gotta love it when the action is non stop like that!!
  12. Mike...another awesome report! Wow...what a fishing weekend...sounded like your family had a great time out there. Also nice to see your daughters in the pics too! As far as my little one is concerned, we have a little portable toilet seat and bucket we bring along on all our fishing trips....and a nice blanket to cover her up. Whenever we go, she says "And dont forget my potty"....LOL. Funny you mentioned that Drum in my report last week...and that you only caught a small one years ago. They are fun to catch...put up a respectable fight! Dont feel bad about getting outfished...seems the only time that doesn't happen to me is when I fish alone...LOL. Bly regularly outfishes me and when the kids are around...just forget it....LOL Again...great report, glad the blockades didn't hamper your travels and that you all had a great time out there.
  13. AMAZING pictures! Looks like a little piece of heaven up there. Great catches and report!
  14. It was great seeing you and Paul up there Joey! All the reports have been awesome and yours is no exception. Bly and I will be up there again for sure next year....we'll have to bribe someone for the babysitting part, but we'd like to spend at least 4 or 5 days there next year. Thanks for all the laughs, conversation and your famous Jerky!!!
  15. WTG Shawn! Great fish and report.
  16. After fishing with Slowpoke on Saturday morning, Bly and I went and fished both on Saturday and Sunday night. Fishing was awesome!!! Saturday Night We headed out to one of our hot spots, and were met with a beautiful moon!! Had to take some pictures. They actually turned out!! Anyways, on to the fish porn!!! LOL First, we wanted to see if those nice browns were still in the area, so we both casted a variety of spoons, spinners, and cranks. Bly went 1 for 2 and landed this nice brown on a 1oz Red Devil Spoon. Once the sun was down, the bite seemed to turn off, so out came my Carp rod. It was getting a bit late and we were both very tired from being up at 330am to fish with Slowpoke, so we decided to give it only a half hour or so. Luckily, the bite was on and I managed this nice one measuring at 34.5" and weighing 18lbs 2 ounces. Sunday Evening As you guessed, we headed out to a few shore spots tonight to see what was swimming around. I'm beginning to think that Bly has the magic touch when it comes to pretty fish!! LOL. You'll see why here in a minute. All the following fish came on...you guessed it Bly's trusty/lucky/dont ever lose it Red Devil spoon!!! She ended up 3 for 3 on these browns while there was still a bit of light...the first was a small one at around 12" (didn't take a picture), but her biggest ones came a bit later. Second one was a 20" er.... The third was an 18" er We decided to hit another spot to see what was swimming at some other places. I kept throwing the same stuff she was and got a few hits, but no fish on. We'll dont you know it, Bly casts out her Red Devil and begins to get some action...hoping for another nice brown. She says "fish on, Get ready with the net when you have a minute". The fish didn't feel that big...but soon I heard "Come with the net NOW!!", so I bring in my line quickly and grab the net. As I get closer, the fish comes to the surface and Bly catches that familiar glint of reflection from its eyes. She says excitedly "It's a WALLEYE!!!!". After about a 5 minute fight, she landed this BEAUTY...measuring in at 32.5" and weighing an impressive 12 pounds 14 ounces!!!! She now has 4 out of her 5 species for the Avid Angler awards...only one more to go and I'm sure she'll get it soon!! Anyhow, the bite turned off, so off to another spot to try and get some Carp...I didn't want to get skunked!! LOL. The carp action was SLOW to say the least. I tried casting to a variety of areas, but to no avail. Suddenly, with no warning, I get a fish on and this one didn't want to come in at all!! After fighting it for about 10 minutes, it finally gets close enough to net. Here's my fish...34.5" and weighing in at 20 pounds 8 ounces. It looked like the spawn was tough on this one!! A whole patch of scales were missing, but it looked like it was healing... Well, there you have it, between fishing with Slowpoke and the fish in this report, we had an AMAZING fishing weekend. A few things also have become painfully evident to me. Number one...it seems I can only catch coarse fish and not pretty fish!!! And number two, Bly has the magic touch with that Red Devil spoon. So, as in real life, Bly (the beauty, catches the pretty fish) and me (the beast can catch only coarse fish). We're not sure how long the Walleye will be close to shore like this, so we'll have to keep on trying until there is no sign of them...and then wait til the fall.
  17. Oh man Lew...get's the heart rate right up there!!!
  18. Great report!! The pics turned out great too. It was great seeing you guys again...I'm sure we'll meet up in the future as well.
  19. Great job kevin! At least you got into some nice sized fish....the muskie will be there the next time too...go get em then!
  20. SWEEEEET!!!! Congrats!!! Looks like a very successful vacation for you!!
  21. I never think to bring any to tell you the truth. Since bly and I shore fish, using our Ipods makes conversation difficult...that and I know it would end up swimming...LOL
  22. As some of you may remember, we brought some tadpoles home from a local conservation area to try and raise to frogs. My little one wants to take them back to the pond we got them from once they are big enough. Here's some new pics... <BR><BR> <BR> Here's a short hilarious movie...just listen to what my little has to say...haha. They are eating on an algae wafer...their choice of food in our place. <BR><BR> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5RkZM_UqJc"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5RkZM_UqJc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5RkZM_UqJc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
  23. Very nice dedication to Herb and Eddyk! As everyone else said...rain??? I wish!!!
  24. Nice job out there and great pics! That last one though...ugh!! A face only a mother could love...LOL.
  25. Hi Yellow14 This is a GREAT introduction. It was nice hear your background about how you used to fish and then got back into it again...piece by piece! My wife (Bly on this board) and I were in the same position as you. Fished when we were younger...took a 20 or so year break and then right back into it. This is a perfect board for shore anglers like us....we've had TONS of help on here...made lots of new friends...and found a great place to post our successes and failures. Welcome to the board!
